I think Manchester United are handling the Mateus Fernandes deal exactly how they should. No panic, no rushing, and no willingness to pay an inflated £80m fee.

The player wants the move, talks have started, and with West Ham's current uncertainty, United are in a strong position. Smart clubs negotiate, they don't overpay.

I'd spend the £100-120m on Sandro Tonali and Lewis Hall without hesitation. If Manchester United want to compete for major trophies again, investing in a top-class midfield and quality young talent is exactly the kind of ambition the club should be showing.

Mainoo deserves more credit for the balance he gave Casemiro. Watching Brazil shows that not every technically gifted midfielder can bring out the best in him. Chemistry matters just as much as individual quality & Mainoo consistently provided that throughout the Premier League season.
