@JamesSurowiecki You realise The Bends is in the bottom corner there don't you? YMMV on Oasis but What's the Story is a great British institution of an album. And Mellon Collie has ups and downs, but it's that long that there's enough incredible songs on it to be classed as a great album.
@UTDFondree Jones and rojo should absolutely not be on this list. I think Bailly was probably worse for us than Rojo. I also distinctly remember both he and Jones being mint for us for half a season under mourinho.
Poor - and biased - response from Andy Burnham on Manchester City being found guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules by an Independent Commission.
He says “I can’t intervene *more* in the process,” which requires an explanation in itself.
Then offers commentary on previous proceedings he felt was unfair, AND states he wouldn’t want to lose the club’s owners who have “been such a huge partner in the building of modern Manchester. Obviously, the building of Manchester City into the global force that it is.”
How was that force built?
And on the investment into the city itself, per a 2022 Guardian report: “Nine sites were sold to Sheikh Mansour at a fraction of their value, and well below what other plots nearby fetched. They were on leases lasting 999 years, well beyond the norm. And the fund shifted what had been public assets to companies registered in Jersey.
“That walk along the water from New Islington into Ancoats now passes blocks of privatised land owned in an offshore tax haven, which yields millions upon millions for a key member of the wealthy elite running a surveillance state halfway across the globe. One of the greatest cities in the world has sold itself to a senior figure in a brutal autocracy – and not even for a good price.”
@MadMontana This is nonsense. Mufc dominated the transfer market for a briefer time than you think. 98-03? Mainly the 02 summer? Utd fans and fergie repeatedly complained about Edwards being cheap in 90s (outbid on Shearer for example). And after 03 you're into the Chelsea then City years.
@UtdMaI City are massive cheats. But not sure on this one. It's conceivable haaland's team had something written in his contract to effectively say, we'll come to you now Dortmund, although we could go somewhere bigger. But we want a low release clause to give us the freedom of next move
@thecitydefender You're saying billions (plural) watch the prem. So you think at least 1 in 4 people on earth watch the prem? And all those going to stop because no City? Prem generates ~£7bn. According to you will drop by at least 2bn. So revenue drops by at least 28% due to no city? 😂😂🤡🤡
Similar to mbuemo,.just hasn't looked as dangerous this season so far at all.
Notes on subs: sesko comes on works hard, but when you take a cm off for him it's obvious service is going to suffer
Zirkzee: going into business for yourself is fine against Sabah, but not here mate
My player ratings for today:
Senne: 7. A good save, not much he could do about the goal
Dalot: 4. Awful performance from him today. I'm not his biggest fan or his biggest critic, but this is the sort of performance he has in his locker that those critics point to
...
Attacking 3. Not saying a lot though. Seems to have developed a trend of running into dead ends at the moment.
Mbuemo: 5. Looked limited today. Don't feel like hes properly got going this season. Should have buried that late chance
Cunha: 5. Should be switched wide for me...
@JonDenton Been saying this for ages. We're a squad of players built for
counter attacking. Soon as we slow down in the opponents third we might as well just boot it out for a goal kick and go get into our defensive shape. We can't break a block down so don't bother trying
Derby day! C'mon!!! Weirdly have felt more confident in previous years when city were overwhelming favourites. Need a big game from kobbie! Love to see rashy get a goal today too. #mufc
