#WATCH | Evian, France | When asked if he expects India to play any role in West Asia, US President Donald Trump says, "Yes, I do. I think India plays a big role in everything. As long as he (PM Narendra Modi) is the leader, India is going to play a big role."

Had a productive round of meetings and interactions at the G7 Summit in Evian. I had the opportunity to put forward India’s views and efforts on key areas of governance and policy-making. Also had the opportunity to put forward the need to work closely with the Global South as far as global prosperity is concerned.
Now, will go to Paris for the final leg of my France visit. The programmes in Paris include an address at VivaTech 2026 and interacting with the Indian diaspora at a community programme.
@G7
Dear @narendramodi, it is a pleasure to meet again so soon.
Since we have concluded the mother of all trade deals, we have been moving fast to deliver on our commitments.
We will sign the Free Trade Agreement by the end of the year.
And accelerate work on an investment agreement.
We will also step up security & defence cooperation.
And join forces for better connectivity by advancing IMEC, the India–Middle East–Europe Corridor.
At the G7 Summit in Evian, addressed the Outreach Session on ‘Reviving a Balanced, Shared and Sustainable Economic Growth for All.’ It is good that the French G7 Presidency has given importance to this topic.
The reality today is- when it comes to growth, the question should not be about GDP or trade numbers.
The real question is - Growth for whom, with whom and in what direction?
@G7
India’s experience demonstrates that shared development can help transform aspiration into reality.
India’s growth story is one of inclusion, scale and democratic empowerment.
It is inspired by ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all, Efforts by all). And, it has been reflected on countless occasions such as India’s G20 Presidency, the launch of India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and more.
The disruptions in fuel, fertiliser and food supply chains caused by the crisis in West Asia will continue to impact the Global South for a considerable period.
If we genuinely seek to strengthen international solidarity, the most vulnerable countries should not be left to bear the burden of these crises alone.
Our international financial institutions should develop support mechanisms that help developing countries absorb these shocks and maintain their economic resilience.
Like the vision of IMEC, can we work on connectivity projects with countries in Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands?
By combining G7 capital, India’s talent and the ownership of Global South countries, we may also consider establishing an International Mobilisation Partnership for Accelerating Connectivity and Trade (IMPACT).
Today, many societies are becoming ageing societies while India and other countries of the Global South have abundance of young talent, entrepreneurship and skills.
To harness this natural complementarity, called for the creation a Global Skills Partnership, where we can work together on skill mapping and promoting trusted skilled mobility.
The talks with Chancellor Merz were very fruitful. We discussed ways to further cement bilateral cooperation by working together in trade, investments, circular economy, defence, IT and more. We also talked about boosting cultural linkages between our nations.

It was wonderful meeting European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Evian earlier today. At the start of this year, India was proud to host them for our Republic Day celebrations. This has been a great time for India-EU ties as we have concluded the Free Trade Agreement.
During our talks, we discussed how to further deepen economic linkages in the times to come. Our growing cooperation can play an important role in strengthening peace, stability and prosperity in today’s global environment.

A historic milestone for India-UK relations.
Delighted to note that the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement will enter into force on 15th July 2026.
This agreement will significantly boost our bilateral trade and investment.
It will also unlock numerous opportunities for Indian farmers, workers, MSMEs, startups and innovators and contribute meaningfully to the realisation of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Both PM Starmer and I, who are in Evian for the G7 Summit, are naturally very happy with the significant momentum being added to our economic ties.
@Keir_Starmer
Pleased to meet President Trump in Evian. We reviewed the sustained progress in our bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, defence, technology and people-to-people ties.
Conveyed India’s appreciation on the progress in the efforts for restoring peace and stability in West Asia. Keeping the Strait of Hormuz open is vital for the global economy. Reiterated the importance of ensuring the safety and security of civilians, including seafarers.
@realDonaldTrump
Met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Evian. In recent times, India and Ukraine have been engaging extensively. This has been reflected in different areas of our cooperation. Our talks today were about reviewing different aspects of our cooperation. We both agree that trade ties need to be restored to what they were in the pre-war time. Also reiterated that India will always be on the side of peace, placing the values of humanity over everything else.

Spoke at the session on ‘Ensuring a Safe, Rapid and Efficient Rollout of AI.’ This is a subject of immense importance for the global community. AI’s transformative potential is widely known, having touched all aspects of human life.
However, the true test of AI is not how powerful our machines become. Its real test lies in how much it empowers ordinary human beings.
@G7
India’s belief in human-centric application of AI was reflected in the AI Impact Summit in Delhi this year. It was also reflected in the MANAV Vision of India. It is clearly reflected in numerous other efforts of India in AI.
Recently, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV spoke about the importance of human values, inclusivity and meaningful human control as the foundation for the development of AI. India’s vision for AI aligns with this message of His Holiness the Pope.
