the trouble is that americans think that protests are just a fun social gathering where you hold up plaques with "I'd rather be at brunch" and sing k-pop demon hunters songs, rather than a means of physically intimidating and scaring the government into doing what you want
it makes me so emotional seeing protesters around the world waving the Palestinian flag and wearing kuffiyeh as a symbol of collective struggle and resistance. it’s a bittersweet feeling of solidarity and a reminder how all of our struggles are interconnected
The greatest victory of the modern ruling class is convincing the public that rebellion, resistance, and protest are the hallmarks of barbarism, while submission, obedience, and humility are the virtues of civilized societies
Whereas the truth is exactly the opposite
🚨BREAKING GOOD NEWS: Bleached corals recovered within seven weeks after touching healthy clones in a Stanford lab study, with researchers saying bleached corals are not a lost cause.
Oscar Bergal was shot by ICE in my district last Thursday, then pulled out of the hospital by ICE while still needing surgery. His lawyers say he’s in solitary with the bullet lodged in his neck, his face is numb, and he’s losing hearing in one ear. This is atrocious and inhumane, but it’s not a mistake. It’s yet another example of ICE working as designed. We don’t need another few years of broken safeguards. We need to abolish ICE.
Oscar Belgal is in solitary confinement at MDC after he was shot by ICE on Thursday.
His lawyers say he “urgently needs surgery.”
“A bullet remains lodged in his neck, the left side of his face is numb, and he can barely hear out of his left ear.”
Tomorrow, DHS is slated to begin uprooting thousands of saguaro cacti on the Tohono O’odham Nation, marking the first step in what could become the Trump administration’s most contentious border wall battle yet.
The tribe is condemning the plans in the strongest possible terms.
🚨 Border wall contractors plan to remove thousands of sacred saguaros (ha:ṣañ) on sovereign O'odham land starting Monday — Indigenous People's Day.
Tadai Me:i Camp calls supporters to join in prayer and protest on the Tohono O’odham Nation.
🚨 On Monday, Indigenous Peoples' Day, thousands of saguaros the Tohono O'odham consider people will be ripped out of the ground, for not one wall, but two.
The saguaros are called ha:şañ. Removing one isn't just destroying a plant, it's considered an act of violence against a person.
The Nation was only notified Friday.
The Nation filed an emergency injunction with the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals this week trying to stop it. Removing a saguaro without a permit is illegal. DHS is moving forward anyway, citing a border emergency to bypass that requirement.
Chairman Verlon Jose put it plainly: "Trespassing on our land to remove the sacred saguaros is like having masked men break into your house and take away your children.”
But here's what you can do today. There's a way to speak up on this exact project. It's in the first reply.

Le fait qu'elle est tout aussi éloquente que Elwan mais qu'on peut parier qu'il y aura pas d'edits pour louer à quel point elle parle bien, d'invit sur des plateaux télé et de hype qui l'erige en symbole de la lutte lycéenne
