“well if we start removing politicians accused of sexual assault, we’d have to remove most of them...”
YES. THAT’S HOW ACCOUNTABILITY WORKS.
NOT HAVING RAPISTS IN OUR GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE THE BARE. F*CKING. MINIMUM. 🤡
Ben & Jerry aren’t involved anymore after having their ability to speak openly about their political beliefs restricted. They both tried to stop sales of their ice cream in occupied West Bank. This is Israel colonizing an ice cream brand. That land of milk and honey ain’t yours.
Seatbelts aren't designed for breasts.
Real blood wasn't used for period product testing until like 2023.
Female crash dummies weren't regularly used in crash tests until 2022.
Women are 30% more likely to die if her surgeon is a man.
So. If you are in ANY emergency situation — let’s say you park in your driveway, & only as you begin taking your groceries from the car, you see movement in your home that is supposed to be empty. And a broken window. You cannot drive away to somewhere safer to get help. Your car refuses.
You are at a traffic light. Suddenly someone is trying to get into your car (this has happened to me). You have a split second to accelerate & leave him in the dust. Your car shuts down power.
The school calls. Your daughter has fainted. You cannot drive to the school to pick her up because your car notices your eyes are wide & you’re breathing fast.
Your car now controls whether you live or die in an emergency situation. And those controls cannot be overridden.
When I saw this bill, my first thoughts were something like, 1) I'm becoming a mechanic and driving something pre-2027 for the rest of my life, 2) when they outlaw that, I'm taking up biking, and 3) when they start surveilling the bikes, I'm switching to running...
Then it hit me: I'm in zugzwang.
My only moves, if I'm to remain a law-abiding citizen, are to either 1) allow myself to be prison probed by the state 24/7/365, or 2) start living in self-imposed 15-minute city conditions.
I have a sudden urge to throw wooden crates into a harbor.
Billionaires don’t have bank accounts like you and me. They have art collections,Yachts,Mansions,Stocks. None of it gets taxed until they sell it. So they just never sell it. They borrow against it instead. Live off the loans. Pay almost nothing. Then when they die, their kids inherit it all tax-free. The wealth never gets taxed, It just gets passed down.
And we wonder why the gap keeps getting wider.
France made this wastefulness illegal cause it’s cruel and only causes more waste issues. Any food market or restaurant over 400 square meters has to donate all their good unsold food to charities and are fined if they do anything like this. That law should be applied everywhere
Trump has authorized the removal of permits that were put in place to protect endangered species and now workers are allowed to kill these animals so they can drill the oceans for oil. There are only 50 of these whales left in the wild and they may all die because of this. They are trying to find loop holes in the endangered species act to do this and it will result in the deaths of innocent animals and may even lead to an entire species’ extinction.
Please contact your representatives and demand action be taken to stop this. These animals do not have a voice to advocate for themselves. We must be their voice and protect our planet. Please share this!!!!!!
Let me explain exactly why every new subdivision in America looks like the top photo, because the math is wild.
A mature tree increases a home's value by 7 to 19 percent. On a $400,000 house, that's $28,000 to $76,000. A single shade tree produces the cooling equivalent of ten room-size air conditioners running 20 hours a day. One tree on the west side of a house cuts energy bills by 12 percent within 15 years. The bottom photo is worth more, costs less to live in, and sells faster. This has been documented by the University of Washington, Clemson, Michigan State, and the USDA. The data is not in dispute.
Removing those trees saves the builder roughly $5,000 per lot. Concrete trucks need twice the dripline radius of every standing tree. Utility trenches need flat ground. A bulldozer flattens 200 lots in an afternoon. Preserving trees adds weeks and thousands per home.
So the developer pockets $5,000 in savings and the buyer eats $50,000 in lost value for the next two decades. The person making the decision and the person paying for it have never been in the same room.
The Woodlands, Texas is the proof of what happens when they are. George Mitchell bought 28,000 acres of Houston timberland in 1974 and preserved 28% as permanent green space. He forced McDonald's to build behind the tree canopy. That McDonald's became one of the highest-volume locations in Texas. The first office building, designed to reflect the surrounding forest so you couldn't see it from the street, leased completely.
The Woodlands median home price today: $615,000. Katy, a comparable Houston suburb that clear-cut: $375,000. Named #1 community to live in America two years running.
Fifty years of data. The trees are worth more than removing them saves. Developers clear-cut anyway because they sell the house once and leave. You live in it for 30 years.
>Be leather
>Made from cattle hide since humans first domesticated cattle
>10,000 years of continuous use
>Durable: a well-made leather boot lasts 20-30 years with basic care
>Biodegradable: returns to the earth at end of life
>Breathable: your foot doesn't marinate in its own moisture
>Ages beautifully: develops patina, softens, moulds to the foot
>Repairable: a cobbler can rebuild a leather shoe indefinitely
>Be leather, 2010s
>Activists declare you unethical
>Brands pivot to "vegan leather"
>Vegan leather is PVC or polyurethane
>PVC is polyvinyl chloride: a petroleum-derived plastic
>Releases phthalates and dioxins during production
>Cracks within 2-3 years
>Cannot be repaired
>Shed microplastics with every flex
>Ends up in landfill, where it does not biodegrade
>Ever
>The plastic remains for 500+ years
>Be leather
>Made from a byproduct of food production
>The hide was going to exist regardless
>You just made it useful instead of waste
>Now considered unethical
>The plastic alternative is considered sustainable
>Nobody is asking who funded the campaign that made this happen
>A petroleum company would really like you to stop buying leather
>A petroleum company is very invested in you buying plastic instead
Me da risa q a las mujeres nos traten de vender el ser ama de casa como algo súper genial, pero cuando el hombre está en esa posición de repente sí es malo xd
