AG Jay Jones is asking to delay any further hearings or rulings in the state challenges to the assault weapons ban until two weeks after SCOTUS rules on AWBs.
Congratulations to our newest members of the NYC congressional delegation.
From public servants to union organizers to community activists, the path is different but the work is the same.
We must decisively address the affordability crisis and crush far-right extremism!
Translation: “Proud to pass a budget that gave me & my other leftist politicians a 177% pay raise for a ‘part time’ job, imposed massive carbon taxes on our energy bills AND the largest payroll tax increase in Virginia history while making Virginia LESS affordable”.
The conference budget includes pay raises for members of the General Assembly, effective at the start of the 2028 General Assembly Session.
Lawmakers (who would need to be reelected in 2027 to benefit from the change) would make $50,000.
Currently, Delegates make $17,640 and Senators make $18,000, and lawmakers haven’t received a raise since 1988.
Going thru this meeting now - "I'm still your throat to choke," says @DominionEnergy's Baine when asked by @RipSullivan6 if the proposed merger with @nexteraenergy will still follow the VCEA. #VALEg
"They intend to follow the law you wrote," @ssurovell jokes.
This line in the story from @DwayneYancey stood out to me.
“She also said that some legislators have told her privately that some of the conflict between the General Assembly and the new governor could be due to resentment on the part of some legislators at having to deal with a woman in the role of chief executive for the first time.”

“… I think it's inappropriate to be making public comment on jurists at this time,” Scott said.

“The reality is that we expected the Supreme Court of Virginia to respect the constitution and the will of the people,” Del. Dan Helmer said. “They did not.”
Helmer continued: “We will make sure that Justice Kelsey does not serve anymore come this January."

Sen. Creigh Deeds told me Gov. Spanberger called him and said she is going to veto his legislation that would have established a Prescription Drug Affordability Board in Virginia.
