📷 It’s National Teen Driver Safety Week! 📷
Getting behind the wheel is an exciting milestone for teens, but safe driving habits can make all the difference. This week, the Virginia Beach Police Department is reminding teen drivers (and even adults!) to prioritize safety.

[nhtsagov @NHTSAgov]

As we kick off National Teen Driver Safety Week, parents — remember that teens often model the driving habits they see at home.

Sit down with your young driver this week to establish clear house rules around these non-negotiables. ⤵️

October is National Pedestrian Safety Month, and we are urging all Virginia Beach community members to stay alert and avoid distractions while driving.
Let's do our part to work together so our roads are safe for everyone.

Sadly, a pedestrian is killed every 74 minutes in traffic crashes.

Remember, at some point in the day EVERYONE is a pedestrian:

🚶‍➡️ Follow the rules of the road
🚶‍➡️ Use crosswalks when available
🚶‍➡️ Walk on sidewalks when available

🚘 Look out for pedestrians and minimize blind spots
🚘 Be careful in hard-to-see conditions
🚘 Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks
