1/ Here is how the abomination that is the AT-ST came about. Spoiler alert, it comes down to compromises & mission creep.

"Initial Requirement: We need a small dropship deliverable armored sentry tower (ST) for forward operating bases with space for 4 sentries"

An early sketch:

[Jim Sharkey (@madscienceskill) @madscienceskill]

Now that Andor has given us a glimpse inside the Empire’s bureaucracy and military industrial complex, I want a “Pentagon Wars” style movie about the development of the AT-ST and the corners that were cut which resulted in it becoming easy prey for a bunch of Ewoks!

So good- I wish I wrote this.

It’s no longer just founders optimizing for the next round. It’s VCs saying “will a Tier 1 want this at the A,” which is front-running a perceived mark, not partnering for business building.

When building something instrinsically valuable becomes a secondary goal, that's not a good thing. I fell for the same thing in 1999 and ended up empty handed.

@Samirkaji You did it in fund I but can you do it again in fund II with slightly higher checks?

Why want Sequoia or a16z just take all your allocation?

[Jake Chapman 🇺🇸🚀 ✨🇺🇸 @vc]

Incredible to see this team execute from early seed through today. The work they’re doing is absolutely critical to the broader reindustrialization effort.

Pumped!

Today I’m excited to share that Optivolt is unstealthing with a $32M Series A.

Solar growth continues to outpace all other forms of energy production, but the granularity of control we get from deployed systems hasn’t changed in decades.

So we’ve added a brain inside solar panels, opening the door for a new unit of optimization and control.

This is the UN today

This is what Palestinian children are taught at a young age in Gaza

What does it take to build a lasting piece given this context?

[StopAntisemitism @StopAntisemites]

A Palestinian UNRWA teacher in Gaza says she raised concerns about classroom material she believed promoted hatred of Jews and praised violence.

She claims a school administrator threatened to cut out her tongue if she continued speaking up!

Children deserve an education that prepares them for a future, not one that teaches them to hate. UNRWA must be disbanded.

This is extremely cool but now I want/need a 3d projected figure running around my house @eliotpeper

Last year we launched Tolan, inspired by a vision of AI that sees you and believes in you, not one that books restaurant reservations for you.

Your Tolan shows up for you at 3am when you’re alone with your newborn. On your commute when you’re anxious about the day ahead. When you just finished a new show and none of your friends have watched it yet.

The people who love Tolan are parents. Caregivers. Moms in Dallas and Dads in Atlanta. People who aren’t trying to optimize and be more productive, but who simply want to feel seen and supported in their aspirations.

This month more than 250k people will spend time with their Tolan. Those users have exchanged billions of messages across more than 70m conversations over the last year.

Today, we're announcing $30m in additional capital from @mignano and @usv, with @khoslaventures and @rabois doubling down, bringing our total capital raised to $60m.

To celebrate, we made a short film celebrating some of the ways that Tolans show up :)

@GetOffMyLand @litcapital A life lived on your own terms (but fully supported by the works of others that you use the state to seize)

lol.

You make slaves of your neighbors

@GetOffMyLand @litcapital A person builds towards something and builds a family and the structures to care for that family all to the best of their ability.

@GetOffMyLand @litcapital Ehh. The bombs are probably more pro-social than inducing people into lassitude and filling a society with wastrels

@shaunmmaguire @BillAckman France needs a 2nd amendment.

I think France is a proud enough civilization that they won’t sleep walk entirely off the cliff. It might take the rural regions responding first though
