@AffordAnything And you're correct, @AffordAnything . It's a standard finding in education research, though people are embarrassed to say it, because, well, it's unpopular. I did a study where we used both SAT and GPA as controls, and SAT was a much stronger predictor of student outcomes.

@EconChrisClarke I'm fine with them getting aid, but maybe the amount spent on it doesn't need to increase as fast as it has been. Esp if one of those programs is a large part of a big structural budget deficit. I think spending control needs to be on the table.
