Memphis is over 60% Black with a metro of 1.3 million, yet we have only ONE Historic Black College — LeMoyne-Owen College. A small but historic gem, merged from two schools back in 1968, sitting on that legendary campus in Soulville. It used to have a football team decades ago that had people calling them ‘Magicians’ — that’s where their name came from.

With our population and culture, we should have 2-3 THRIVING HBCU’s not one standing still. But instead of starting something new from scratch, let’s pour into LeMoyne-Owen —boost enrollment, BRING BACK THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM, and make it the powerhouse this city needs. Demand instant HBCU status on the gridiron. Strong institutions build strong communities.

Stop Killing each other. Stop blaming the White Man.
