I find it incredible that OCTranspo and/or its maintenance contractors don’t have a diesel work train that can tow a disabled train when the overhead catenary fails. How do they expect to move an obstacle if they rely on the same source of energy that has failed? @OCTranspo

Like, really, the Confederation Line maintenance contractor does not have a diesel trainset that can come to the rescue of a stopped train? This is basic for metro systems which power their trains electrically. #otttransit

@alexlaq I've been a lifelong transit booster. Rode the Montréal Metro on opening day. Ditto for the Confederation Line. I'm saddened by the lost opportunities in the design, conception, construction and maintenance of our LRT. We should have done better and be doing better.

@JCharronCTV @smwgilbert @ctvottawa @CFRAOttawa Should I understand that the LRT doesn’t have a “work train” powered by diesel like most other subway/Metro systems? Have these two stranded trains have to wait until another train with a pantagraph and working power overhead could reach them?

Now that the election is over, can I ask this question? Why is a city that has been so earnest in promoting bike paths not providing bicycles for rent like any other large city in the world?

The overriding emotion after watching Mayor Watson’s marathon and pitiful testimony at yesterday’s LRT inquiry is disappointment at missed opportunities to inject something more than a mindless focus on the budget and a service date.
