🚨 Public Service Announcement 🚨
The Coquitlam Amateur Radio Emergency Services Society (CARESS) repeater VE7MFS has implemented a tone change to 114.8 Hz. effective immediately.
This change has been made to address an interference issue that has been affecting performance.
39 CBG HQ (CAF) is establishing an HF Guard Net for national emergency communications. CFARS is supporting the initiative, and VE7SCC has been selected to receive new HF equipment — strengthening resilience and interagency response capability.
Successful high-altitude balloon payload test from Cypress Mtn☀️📡 APRS, 925 MHz slow-scan TV, 1 W UHF/VHF cross-band repeater all performed excellent—HTs with rubber-duck antennas worked 22 km into Richmond, SSTV showed ~10 dB margin Launch target: late Feb 2026 🚀
Winter Field Day 2026 at HMCS Discovery was a big win for our club. Great private site, solid HF–VHF operations (80 m–2 m), CW/SSB/Winlink/JS8, and plenty of learning and teamwork. Warm mess hall, hot coffee, and very welcoming Navy hosts! Radio, community at its best. 📡
Merry Christmas from your Monday night net controllers and the ham radio club 🎄📻
Thanks to everyone who checks in and keeps our community connected. Wishing you a warm, peaceful holiday and strong signals in the year ahead
