Not even a year ago, quite a few pilots and ‘analysts’ were debating me about a pilot shortage wreaking havoc on the airlines and their primary hub feed (~40%), the ‘regional’ airlines. A lot of revenue being left on the table. Not good for shareholders! #pilotshortage#ALPA
.@ALPAPilots This chart is manipulative, wrong, & false. FAA said: “No benefit from the [1,500] Requirement.” Learn about DECADES of safety work here: https://t.co/ZbNDC9iuwd
“The aviation industry in North America is facing a deficit of 8,000 pilots and, by 2032, it will go up to 30,000 pilots. Regional airlines are hit the hardest. Even after paying higher salaries, they are unable to retain their pilots.” #pilotshortage https://t.co/KmSNTTuFyV
“It’s one of the more genuinely dangerous sectors of aviation. You don’t get to manipulate the controls that often. You have to be constantly alert, because students like to find novel and clever ways to kill you.” #flightschool#aviation https://t.co/EVEgYL21jg
After today's @SenateCommerce hearing, RAA urges action on pilot workforce and pushes back on unfounded claims. Well-reasoned proposals for more structured training can deliver squarely on building stronger pilot foundations. Read our full statement here: https://t.co/8tmzYwqge5
When I say this was the roughest flight of my career so far, I mean it. I have never seen the bunks come out like that. There was coffee everywhere. I have never felt such lateral motion.
Aboard Kermit (#NOAA42) this morning into Hurricane #Ian. Please stay safe out there.
Ladies and Gentlemen. The time has arrived. Grab a safety pilot and fly for less than $15 an hour! Lol. In all seriousness, props to creative thinking to @MesaAirlines#pilotshortage#roadto1500
@MattJohnso28 @petemuntean The argument is the training isn’t standardized nor efficient. Let alone an arm and a leg. Not everyone is going 135. Not everyone is a CFI. Not everyone is part 141 or 61. We’re getting on a slow train with Alaska and United’s academies. But holes are everywhere.
We expected the pilot shortage, but it hit faster and harder than even we were expecting.
Our 2022 forecast as of last year showed a shortfall of 5,500 pilots. As we move through 2022, that number is closer to 8,000.
I went back in time to understand the history and context of the so-called 1,500-hour rule, which is now central to the debate around the US pilot shortage. 🧵 https://t.co/ufZjCeAraC
