@GhillieYT The quality of the display's not going to be because of the resolution nor refresh rate in and of themselves necessarily. It can be better that it has those specs if it helps manage other ones (contrast ratio, wider gamut, sustained/peak brightness levels, response times, etc)
@Spiderdx109 Particularism is a good concept to try and grasp. Unfortunately, people often don't. Particular instances of criticizing individuals doesn't affect your overarching position, or shouldn't.
@hutchinson Holy shit man I love your political content but the discord mods for your server are actually insane. Literal pedo-jacketing, dogpiling with stereotypes, and people unable to handle disagreements. Your temperament is amazing, but your mods act more like your enemies.
@IdiotResid10154 I could be wrong, but wouldn't a demo like this be a vertical slice that runs on better hardware without any consideration of whether the rest of the game could run or look similar to this?
@Dexerto Wasn't the prevailing theory that bots help Twitch with giving a perception to advertisers that they're doing better and would be more worthwhile to partner with?
Maybe I'm wrong
I've always thought Voyager 1 would've been a good premise for a Pixar movie (back when they were reliably good).
Cute, plucky little spaceship getting further away from home, wonders why the humans are taking longer and longer to get back to him. Is he not doing a good job?
He goes around doing all sorts of experiments, dodging asteroids and other space dangers, working really hard, but eventually the humans just stop talking to him altogether.
He gets sad and lonely. Maybe he bumps into a little alien probe who becomes his friend. They have to work together to accomplish some big thing, but they both have to head home after.
Voyager gets sad, because he's leaving his friend and going back to a planet that he thinks has forgotten him, but as he gets closer, all the messages the humans have been sending him start coming through, faster and faster.
They never forgot, he was just too far away, but they kept sending him messages hoping he'd hear them one day.
The theme would be something wholesome like "know that you are loved, even when life gets tough, even if you don't hear it every day. An adventure isn't good because it's easy."
Vague Wall E meets Project Hail Mary vibes.
We’re not interested in the Threat Interactive drama, he can do his thing and we will continue to do ours, which means testing GPU features like DLSS, FSR and XeSS. If he wants to spend his time and energy pushing for better quality games we’re here for it. But needlessly attacking others because he disagrees on which features should be tested is painfully obnoxious.
In a way it reminds me of the VRAM issue and how the community viewed our coverage versus Digital Foundry. We were pushing for better consumer products with more VRAM, they were pushing developers to optimize the games, we were not at odds with one another, they were pushing for better software and we were pushing for better hardware.
Whether you believe upscaling technology should exist or not is irrelevant, your opinion is not the only one. Some people believe mainstream 8GB GPUs are fine and should exist, we don’t agree, but you’re more than welcome to make that content and share that opinion, and some have.
If Threat Interactive was taking the fight to AMD and Nvidia, we’d really have no issue with that, but attacking others in the space because you don’t like that they test a feature doesn’t achieve anything, it’s purely drama. Anyway, that's involved as we’re getting in it, he can continue to proceed however he likes, just know we’re out.
Fucking hate when people prioritize their political affiliation over reason. So many normal friendships over because what? You wanna be obsessed over some stupid word or political belief? Cringe.
The DLSS 5 outrage isn’t about AI generally.
We all know DLSS is AI-based. And we loved it when it made games run at high frame rates while retaining fidelity.
We’ve glazed DLSS nonstop for years.
But DLSS 5 looks like it’s changing the art itself. That’s the issue.
@AverageUkranian@JawsClawsPaws You clearly haven't watched Markiplier's content much if you actually think this reaction is typical of Mark while playing horror games.
@NightGuardian34@DramaAlert This demonstrates more of a proof-of-concept where it's clearly difficult to distinguish AI from non-AI videos in general. Being stated as AI and being unseen in his prior works are what give this away. I'm unconvinced that anyone would be able to identify it as AI otherwise.
@marinaapbch@arriwthreat probably because the societal implication of liking a fictional character has gotten silly and makes you feel the need to justify a position that doesn't really need it
Twitch has a lot of drama as of late. Rage bait content, reacts, people saying bad things about each other for "content", basically paying too much attention to one person or another, and it will only continue to get worse. I however, stay in my corner keeping it about the games, because thats what Twitch was meant to be and I will die on that hill.
@KitsuneroVT Well, and the people who'd make said hobby/community worse even if they're not necessary "bad" actors. Either way, gatekeep the hell outta hobbies you love 😤
