@BamaExpat Taking a bit more effort to say someone's first name demonstrates respect. But to really understand this you would need to grasp Russian language and culture not just read Tolstoy in translation
@JeremiahDJohns@souljagoyteller "Kamala is too far left because she is for they/them instead of me. Bernie on the other hand, he is just about right because he's more normal."
@JeremiahDJohns@souljagoyteller What exactly the median poll respondee means when they say someone is "too far left" or "too far right" is almost entirely opaque, and if I were a political strategist I would never simply council my client to be more or less right/left based on those responses.
@mikitaposts This is macroecon 101; the gangbanger Stringer Bell learned why this is at Baltimore City Community College. Elastic vs. Inelastic products. If you want Mexican/Russian grocery in Salt Lake City you have 1 choice. If you want it in Guadalajara or Arkhangelsk you more
@GeopolWonk Dont you think that the comparison between ADLE and Bolsonaro was based on wearing a jersey rather than the flag-as-such is worth preserving? What justifies this ammount of liberty with the Bukele comparison?
@GeopolWonk Granting that i am professional at translating Russian to English rather than Spanish to English... I do read Spanish and will announce confidently- This level of interpretation is simply unwarranted, unless you think your reader is retarded.
@valonsofr That is to say that within certain milieux of the US, non-Hispanic immigrants face more pressure to integrate to hispanic culture than to Anglo culture. And for this guy it was easier to get by w/o Spanish in rural Guatemala than in the US
@valonsofr I recently met a K'iche guy from Guatemala who had been in the US for 14 years. He arrived in the US speaking only K'iche, no English or Spanish. 14 years later, he had become fluent in Spanish but didn't speak a word of English.
