Though without a home, VICEC still continue their work. Imam Alomgir attended a very fruitful assembly at Millbank Academy, showing pupils how regardless of differences in faith, religious leaders manage to work together and get along!
๐ VICEC ANNOUNCEMENT ๐
*URGERNT COMMUNITY NOTICE*
Without any notice, last night at approximately 1:50am, a bailiff company on the authority of WBWT (Westminster Bangladeshi Welfare Trust) entered the property and changed the locks. VICEC have no access to the building now.
@WBWT3 @PimlicoLabour WBWT have been scaremongering the community by accusing VICEC'S Imam of being an Islamist and extremist etc. That is scaremongering and in fact is a serious allegation worthy of defamation.
@WBWT3 @PimlicoLabour We fail to see how anyone is politicising the situation? This wasn't just an internal dispute but in fact it affected the entire community. The risk of closure was even publicly announced by WBWT on the day of the eviction in front of the people who came to pray.
Westminster City Council: Stop WBWT from evicting VICEC and ensure the lease is under VICEC's name. - Sign the Petition! https://t.co/7KrLFO6Rpe via @UKChange
