Thank God he grouped all of us together.
Plus the NBA president o + the organizers that invited him + the lawyers that were begging for pictures + the lawyers that sat to listen to him + the lawyers that defended him on social media.
All of us are in a circus show🤭.
This is exactly what you get when you put VeryDarkMan in a room and give him a platform like the NBA Conference.
This is what some lawyers don’t seem to understand. You can criticize the police, demand accountability and call out failures without making serious allegations as though they are established facts.
Look at the response from the Police Force. This is the consequence of giving reckless statements a bigger platform than they deserve.
And honestly, I’m ashamed of anyone who feels the need to justify this kind of behaviour. You can support accountability without defending everything someone says or does. At some point, professional responsibility and basic common sense have to come in.
I read a post this morning and I was so angry. A lawyer was complaining about the just concluded NBA election and he addressed the two other Presidential candidates by their professional rank but deliberately left out the rank of the President-elect. He was repeatedly calling her by her name while addressing others as SAN. What manner of disrespect is that? Is the President-elect also not a Senior Advocate of Nigeria?
She’s not my candidate but choosing to address others in respectful manners is a deliberate disrespect to the President-elect. Is it because she’s a woman that you people want to start this disrespectful narratives? Whoever is putting you up to these does not mean well at all, for you and the profession.
It’s not her fault that she’s a beneficiary of a flawed electoral process. Until it’s decided otherwise, she will be the 33rd NBA President and she be accorded with maximum and well deserved respect. There’s nothing like she’s not my president. Let’s not bring obidiots kind of politics into our profession. Make Una borrow sense please.
“I do not want to be remembered simply as the first female President of the NBA. I want to be remembered as someone who ensured I was not the last.” I almost cried. 🥹🥹🥹
A woman who understands that she has so much more to prove than her male counterparts because if she does a terrible job, many people won’t just say she failed. They will question whether another woman should ever lead again. Yet incompetent men have replaced incompetent men for decades. Nobody says, “The last male President was poor, so let’s never elect another man.” Individual failure is treated as exactly individual when it comes to men. Women are never afforded that grace. A woman’s success is often seen as opening a door for others. Her failure is too often used as a reason to close it.
Respectfully sir, I have deliberately stayed out of this discussion out of respect for your person. I knew people would see the things I saw and respond accordingly. Alhamdulillah, I've seen quite a number of balanced takes already.
But then no one seemed to be talking about the one sentence that really caught my attention.
The part where you said "she needs to feed his need to lead."
And I thought to myself...
Isn't this exactly how our mothers unintentionally raised many of the men we are now struggling with?
By constantly cushioning their egos.
By making it a woman's responsibility to protect a man's self-esteem at all costs.
Here's a man who, according to the story, inherited a thriving family business and ran it aground. Fair enough, people fail. That can happen to anyone.
But now he wants to take over the business his wife built? The very one he didn't want her to start.
Doesn't that already tell us where the real problem is?
At what point does she get to just be the wife?
The weaker vessel, the one whose responsibility is only to support.
The same wife we constantly remind to submit to the head of the family.
Because from your advice, she now has to become his confidence coach, his business adviser, his financier, his ego booster, his emotional support system, his PR manager, and somehow still remain the submissive wife.
How?
Then he topped it all off with the threat of divorce.
And honestly, that's where I completely checked out.
Because it tells us the believe the every woman's greatest fear should be losing her marriage.
Why?
Because society has spent generations teaching women that a divorced woman has somehow failed. That an unmarried woman deserves less respect. It's the same mindset that fuels all the weekly conversations shaming women over age, marriage, fertility, finances... there's always something.
Then there's the issue of control.
I have always believed that many men mistake leadership for control.
The moment they can't control a woman, they suddenly feel they've lost their place.
But leadership and control are not the same thing.
Don't get me wrong.
I believe in supporting your spouse.
I believe in building together.
I believe marriage should be the safest place either partner ever experiences.
But I also don't believe in making one partner responsible for raising the other into adulthood.
If this story is exactly as the woman narrated it, then this man doesn't need a wife who constantly feeds his need to lead.
He needs to rediscover himself.
Because a man whose identity depends on his wife pretending he is in charge isn't leading.
He's surviving on borrowed confidence.
And I don't think that's fair to either of them.
Currently handling a case on surrogacy and we are already in court. By the time judgement is delivered in that case, it will be the first Nigerian case on the subject, as many novel issues will be unraveled. Coincidently, it’s the case that has motivated my PhD thesis and can’t wait for how the court will determine it.
If you’re a Muslim and this appears on your timeline, kindly retweet it so it can reach those who may not have completed their ṣalāh today. May this act serve as a reminder and stand as a witness for us on the Day of Qiyaamah.
First it was "Islamic terrorists" attacking road construction sites in Mali (95% Sunni Muslim country), now it's the same "Islamic terrorists" attacking Chinese mining sites in DR Congo (96% Roman Catholic country).
"Islamic terrorists" in Africa apparently only attack anything connected to African development or China/Russia. They also never attack US or Israeli embassies.🤔
Whenever you get tired of white people insulting your intelligence...
I'm sending an SOS for one of my patients, Nusaiba Mahmud in our Paediatric medical ward.
We're managing her for severe malnutrition, severe sepsis and kidney injury. The girl is fighting, but the parents are financially exhausted. Our purse is almost dry too because of her. All the organisations I'm reaching out to, no money. Hospital social welfare is also out of funds. Please help Nusaiba live.
Nigerian men, this is where your energy is needed. This is your chance to actually fight for a man falsely accused of rape o.
(It’s not when women expose their rapist you’ll remember false accusers)
Come out in your numbers to fight for this innocent man .
MAN’S IGNORANCE KILLED HIS WIFE, NOT FAITH
This story broke my heart because it is a tragedy that Islam itself came to prevent.
You remember the Hadith of the man with the head wound? He was on a journey, got injured, and then had a wet dream. His companions, out of rigid ignorance, told him he had no excuse and forced him to perform Ghusl with cold water. He washed, and he died.
When the news reached the Prophet (peace be upon him), he did not praise their "strictness." He exclaimed in anger:
"They killed him, may Allah kill them! Why did they not ask when they did not know? Indeed, the cure for ignorance is to ask." (Sunan Abi Dawud).
The Prophet called it killing. Why? Because they prioritized a ritual purity over a human life.
This husband who refused a male doctor in an emergency made the exact same mistake. He thought he was protecting his wife’s modesty (Haya), but in reality, he was violating the higher objective of the Shariah: the Preservation of Life (Hifz al-Nafs).
In Islamic Bioethics, there is a clear hierarchy we follow when seeking treatment in situation like this:
1. A Muslim Female Doctor (The ideal).
2. A Non-Muslim Female Doctor.
3. A Muslim Male Doctor.
4. A Non-Muslim Male Doctor.
You start at the top. But—and this is the critical part—if the top options are not available, you move down the list. You do not stop and choose death.
If a woman is bleeding out and the only hand available to save her is a male hand, that hand becomes Halal in that moment. The rule of Darurah (Necessity) overrides the rule of Awrah (nakedness).
To let your wife and twins die because you couldn't find a female doctor is not Ghayrah (protective jealousy); it is ignorance. It is a failure to understand that Allah does not want ease for us to turn into destruction.
Islam is not a suicide pact. It is a system of mercy.
Allah knows best.
This child has been trending for a while, and tragically, her life has been cut short. Death took her, but it was aided by negligence, and yes, by her parents, in my opinion.
She was declared missing by her parents and the police on December 7, 2025, in Ibadan, Ogun State, Nigeria.
This little girl never made it to her 4th Christmas.
According to reports, she wandered out of her guardians’ sight at home and went toward a nearby well. Out of innocent curiosity, the kind children have, she likely tried to see what was inside and fell in.
She was searched for, day and night, for several days. Eventually, a search party found her dead inside the well.
A devastating, preventable tragedy.
And we moved on too fast, maybe because she isn’t a celebrity. Life is that fragile.
This is one of the reasons it’s bad to build a team around an individual. You are not being brave but being reactionary, petty and selfish. You don’t mind crumbling and destroying a business that put food on your table because you lost out on a role given to someone you considered inferior to you because you trained and mentored him.
You are also allowing pride rule over your intelligence by trying to undermine your superior and hurt the company’s productivity.
You should either resign or get sacked. You are better off without the job. There’s no reason for being in a place you are not happy to be.
Above all, I blame the company for not building competence across board and I hope they learn from this.
I support this move to increase the number of judges of the Court of Appeal from 70 to 110.
The next step is to ensure that many cases terminate at the Court of Appeal stage. Failure to do this will simply transfer the burden of delayed cases from the CoA to the already overworked Supreme Court.
Good development on virtual hearings too. Let us #MakeLitigationGreatAgain
