MoU Signed Between Directorate of Higher Education and Starscapes Experiences.
The Department of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Starscapes Experiences Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon, Haryana, to promote astronomy education and support the development of observatory infrastructure in the State.
Under the initiative, astronomy observatories will be developed in some Government Higher Education Institutions as a pilot project, providing students with opportunities for experiential learning and greater engagement with astronomy.
The collaboration also aims to strengthen astronomy education in alignment with the vision of NEP 2020 and the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) framework, while fostering scientific curiosity and awareness among students and the wider community.
The initiative marks a significant step towards creating greater opportunities for astronomy education, scientific learning, and public engagement with science across Nagaland.

The Department of Higher Education, Nagaland invites all indigenous Naga students studying outside the State to register under the Nagaland Government Ex-Gratia Scheme for Students Studying Outside Nagaland (NGESSO).
The scheme provides Ex-Gratia assistance of ₹5 lakh in the event of any unfortunate demise of indigenous Naga students from Nagaland studying outside the State.

A sensitization and awareness meeting on the HEART App was held today at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Higher Education. The meeting was chaired by Shri Levi Keor, Deputy Director, Higher Education, attended by officers of the Directorate, representatives from all Government Colleges and members of ANGTA.
The meeting was addressed by Smti. V. Lovitoly Sema, NCS, Ex Officio Director, Higher Education. A detailed presentation on the features and functionalities of the HEART App was delivered by Er. Rishav Sethi, the App Developer. He highlighted that the HEART App is designed exclusively for official administrative purposes, including faculty attendance, workforce management, transparency, accountability and effective governance in higher education. The App supports institutional efficiency, real-time monitoring and data-driven decision making across Government Colleges.
The Department reaffirmed its commitment to the responsible implementation of the HEART App, safeguarding employee rights, ensuring compliance with applicable data protection norms, and promoting the modernization of the higher education system.

The Internship Programme (60 Hours) for students of Zunheboto Government College commenced on 9th June 2026 at the Chief Medical Officer's Office, Zunheboto. The programme was organized by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Zunheboto with the objective of providing students practical exposure to the functioning of the health department and various national health programmes.
On the inaugural day, the students were welcomed and introduced to the role and functioning of the CMO Office. An overview of the Health Department structure and the National Health Mission (NHM) was presented. Orientation sessions were conducted on key health programmes including Maternal Health & Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD), DISHA, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), ASHA Programme, Child Health, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK). Demonstrations on salt testing and preparation of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) were also conducted.
From 10th to 19th June 2026, the 13 students divided into five groups will be attached to different programme divisions, namely NCD Cell, DISHA/ART, NTCP, Mental Health Programme, and AB PM-JAY/CMHIS, for hands-on learning and field exposure.

The upgraded Classroom Building under PM-USHA (RUSA 2.0) at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, Government of Nagaland, Shri Temjen Imna Along, marking another step towards strengthening academic infrastructure and creating better learning spaces for students.
The programme was marked by the inauguration ceremony, dedicatory prayer, technical presentation, and addresses by officials and college authorities.
Addressing the gathering the Hon’ble Minister emphasized that such initiatives go beyond infrastructure development and represent an investment in the future of students, strengthening quality higher education in line with the vision of NEP 2020 and promote greater academic opportunities. He also appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders whose dedication contributed to the successful completion of the project.

MoU Signed Between Higher Education and Technical Education for Resource Sharing and Skill-Based Learning.
The Directorate of Higher Education and the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Nagaland, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to strengthen collaboration in skill-based and vocational education across higher education institutions in the State.
The partnership aims to promote resource sharing, capacity building, certification mechanisms, and enhanced employability opportunities for students through the introduction of emerging and industry-relevant courses, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Convergence Technologies, and other skill-oriented programmes.
Under the MoU, Technical Education will extend its technical expertise, infrastructure, skilled manpower, and institutional resources to support colleges under Higher Education. Training programmes will be conducted through Polytechnic institutions and other designated centres, with provisions for both physical and virtual modes of delivery.
The collaboration envisions the development of a structured framework for integrating skill and vocational courses into the higher education ecosystem, enabling students to acquire future-ready competencies aligned with evolving industry demands.
The initiative reflects the Government's commitment to fostering innovation, enhancing employability, and creating greater opportunities for youth through inter-departmental cooperation and effective utilization of existing educational resources.
Together, Higher Education and Technical Education are paving the way for a more skilled, empowered, and future-ready generation of learners in Nagaland.

Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, Government of Nagaland, Shri Temjen Imna Along, inaugurated the new Academic Building of Zunheboto Government College under the PM-USHA initiative on 5th June 2026, marking a significant step in strengthening higher education infrastructure in the state.
The programme featured the unveiling of the inaugural plaque, dedicatory prayer by Rev. Inakhu Sumi, welcome address by Dr. R. Bendangtemjen, Principal, ZGC, and a speech by Shri Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary & SPD, PM-USHA. A technical report on the construction was presented by PWD (Housing), Education Division, Nagaland.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Minister emphasized that education remains a powerful tool for transforming lives and shaping the future of the state. He noted that improved academic infrastructure creates an environment where students can learn, innovate, and prepare for future challenges, and urged students and faculty members to make optimum use of the new facility. As part of the “Birsa Lives in New Bharat” Week under the Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026, the Department of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland organised a Special Interactive Session with beneficiaries of the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme (ST) at Dr. Imkongliba Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima, in the presence of the Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav.

During the programme, Departmental Meritorious Awards were presented to 4 faculty members and 3 ministerial staff in recognition of their excellent contributions in their institutional performance. The awards aims to motivate colleges to adopt best practices in teaching, governance and employee support systems, while encouraging the colleges towards academic excellence and holistic development.

The Department of Higher Education, GoN signed an MoU with the India Meteorological Department,Ministry of Earth Sciences, Gol, at the Directorate of Higher Education, Kohima, today.
Under the Mission Mausam Scheme, the Govt. of India will install an X-Band Polarimetric Doppler Weather Radar (DWR) at Dimapur Government College, Oriental Colony, Dimapur, strengthening weather monitoring in the state.
The MoU, duly vetted and approved by the Government of Nagaland was signed in the presence of Shri Temjen Imna Along, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, GoN, Smti. The Directorate of Higher Education expresses its profound sorrow on the passing of Shri Kiremwati, the first Director of Higher & Technical Education Nagaland.
Shri Kiremwati’s visionary leadership and dedicated service from 2nd May 1983 to 11th August 1986 laid a strong foundation for the growth and development of higher education. His contributions to the academic community and institution-building will always be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this moment of grief. We stand in solidarity with his loved ones and pray that they find strength and comfort.
