@AdrianaLaGrange@Albertadoctors You mean the the PHYSICIAN COMPREHENSIVE COMPENSATION MODEL??? Alberta is falling further behind as inaction continues. Doctors are tired of the words that have not led to any action.
To all CCFP docs, here’s your chance to have a say in making the family med residency 3 years! Including our resident members. Vote! You can even submit your vote in advance
@zaidi71@JasonCoppingAB@jkenney AMA & Alberta Health have not yet returned to negotiations but sustainable virtual care codes is only one of many issues at the table. An agreement is the only way forward.
@peng_dreamer@comp_e_psych Yes, the Virtual Care working group brought forward all of those suggestions & the Minister acted on 2 of them. As I said, it’s a start .. not an end.. and improving virtual mental health codes are extremely important. We are continuing to advocate for it with the Minister.
@comp_e_psych There is so much work to be done, and we are seeing such a surge in mental health and addictions amongst Albertans it is a priority and the AMA will continue to advocate for changes to support physicians & patients. It’s ongoing !
@comp_e_psych The Minister has indicated he will continue to look at the Committees other recommendations but also acknowledges the need for a larger comprehensive approach during negotiations. These initial codes chosen apply to all community physicians no matter specialty.
@comp_e_psych So this is not an agreement, nor was it negotiated. The government looked at the recommendations of the Virtual Care working group that was formed in July 2021 and chose 2 of the recommendations to act on immediately as they recognized the need moving into wave 5. 1/2

In anticipation for the #omicron wave across Canada, a reminder that hundreds of deaths and thousands of hospital admissions NEVER reflect a “mild” disease no matter the % of the population it affects.
Health systems aren’t overwhelmed by mild disease.

Great news. The US has given ~4.2 million 1st doses & ~320,000 2nd doses of #COVID19 vaccine to kids b/w ages 5-11 so far.
ZERO cases of myocarditis reported!
We're still watching closely, but so far vaccine seems INCREDIBLY safe for young kids. 🎉🎉🎉
Watch for a President’s Letter coming on this topic but we wanted to let members know today about this Alberta Health Bulletin with z-code implementation update:
In case you missed it last week:
Here is a short video of Albertans sharing messages of gratitude and satisfaction for the care they've received from health care teams – and physicians in particular – through the pandemic. https://t.co/xmwa4MwMYt
