Most people connect AI to Obsidian and get the same problem:

the model can see the notes,
but it does not understand the person using them.

The video’s fix is simple:

1. me.md

A short briefing file.
Who you are.
How you think.
What tone you prefer.
Your values, rules, projects, constraints, and preferences.

So every new AI session starts with context instead of guessing.

2. vault map

A map of the note system.
Not just folder names.

What each area means.
Where ideas live.
Which templates to use.
How new notes should be created.

This is what turns a vault from “a pile of markdown” into something an AI can navigate.

3. skill map

The reusable moves.

Summarize this type of note like this.
Create this kind of index.
Process images this way.
Draft from these inputs.
Use this workflow for that outcome.

This is the part most people miss.
They save information, but not procedures.

The reason this works is portability.

These are just markdown files inside Obsidian.
Not a plugin trick.
Not locked to one model.
Not dependent on one app staying good forever.

Any AI tool that can read text can be handed the same operating manual.

The caveat:

this is not magic memory.

If me.md turns into a 4,000-word autobiography, it becomes noise.
If the vault map is messy, the model still gets lost.
If the skill map is vague, the output stays generic.

But the principle is strong:

AI does not need your entire life first.
It needs identity, navigation, and repeatable skills.

That is enough to make Obsidian feel less like storage
and more like an AI operating manual for your own brain.
