Smt. V. Neeraja, IPS, Spl. DG Cyber Crime, Punjab, addressed the AI & Cybersecurity Summit at ISB Mohali, highlighting the rapidly evolving and borderless nature of cyber threats in today’s digital age.
She emphasized that crime is increasingly data-driven and AI-enabled—spanning cyber fraud, ransomware, deepfakes, and dark web ecosystems—and called for adoption of advanced, responsible AI-driven policing frameworks.
Focusing on the shift towards intelligence-led policing, key areas discussed included:

📊 Digital forensics at scale with automated triaging & link analysis
🧠 Cybercrime analytics for fraud and network detection
🎯 Computer vision for facial recognition & smart surveillance

She highlighted the features of Punjab Police’s AI initiative of PAIS (Punjab Artificial Intelligence System)
The two day event with panel discussions on Day 1 will conclude on April 17th with selection of winners of Hackathon.

Punjab Police launches #CyberJago — a flagship initiative to spread awareness on Internet Safety and Safe online use for School Children
As internet and web based services have become crucial to education , Cyber-Jago aims to ensure that children navigate the internet safely and are protected from online threats. The campaign focuses on spreading awareness and is designed to educate Teachers from 3,968 Government High Schools on their role to ensure the safety of school children in the digital space.
To deliver this program, Punjab Police has initiated a Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop for 75 Teachers of Government High Schools for capacity building with the knowledge and tools to guide students on safe online behaviour. Teachers will act as Cyber Safety Messengers, helping students build online awareness, vigilance, and responsibility.
Through these workshops Cyber-Jago seeks to empower students, parents, and teachers to identify and report online risks early.

In a decisive action, State Cyber Crime Wing #Punjab busts a mule account racket running across states, arresting 4 who duped victims of crores of rupees nationwide.
The racket bought bank accounts from vulnerable people for small sums and used them to launder cybercrime funds. For 2 years, they ran hundreds of mule accounts to channel money abroad via crypto exchanges: @DGPPunjabPolice
Recoveries: ₹10.96 lakh cash, 9 mobile phones, 1 laptop, 32 debit cards, 10 SIMs, 15 bank passbooks & 1 cheque book.
