Now is the time to make fermented honey garlic so it's ready for fall and winter.
This traditional remedy has been used for generations as a general wellness tonic to help soothe sore throats, calm coughs, and support the body during “cold and flu season”…or detox season when everyone is indoors away from the sun.
Garlic contains a sulfur compound called allicin, which forms when garlic is chopped or crushed.
Allicin has been widely studied for its antimicrobial properties and is one of the main reasons garlic has earned the nickname "nature's antibiotic."
I use so much garlic around the homestead. My dogs eat it regularly for all-natural pest maintenance and I give it to my sheep and goats as well. I even used garlic for when one of my goats got mastitis earlier this year. She recovered perfectly.
Raw honey, which I harvest from my own hives, has long been valued for its natural enzymes, antioxidants, and soothing properties. Honey is a powerful food and medicine.
As the garlic ferments in the honey, the mixture becomes milder, easier to digest, and develops beneficial fermentation byproducts that support our gut.
The honey also becomes infused with the flavor and compounds from the garlic, creating a syrup you can either take by the spoonful or I will end up drizzling on food. You can eat the garlic, so good!
I always make a fresh batch before the weather turns cold so it's ready when I feel I need it.
Stop wearing sunglasses on your morning walk. This is a big mistake.
When unfiltered sunlight hits your eyes in the morning, specialized retinal sensors called ipRGCs (intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells) absorb blue-spectrum light via the photopigment melanopsin.
This:
-Amplifies the Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR), signaling your adrenal glands to release a healthy morning cortisol spike, boosting alertness, mood, and focus.
-Suppresses melatonin, instantly halting residual melatonin production so you shed morning grogginess.
-Entrains your circadian rhythm, starting a ~14-hour biological countdown for natural melatonin release later in the day.
Sunglasses block key wavelengths and drop ambient light exposure well below the 10,000+ lux threshold required to properly fire these ipRGCs.
Naked eyes to the morning sky (never staring directly at the sun) for 10–20 minutes is one of the single most powerful free tools for sleep quality, energy, and metabolic health.
5 things worth the money:
-grass-fed, grass finished beef: less pesticides, more vitamins, better for you/planet
-le creuset cookware: lasts forever, teflon is garbage
-yu kurosaki knives: the pleasure of cutting steak with a primo knife on a wood cutting board...
-home air filter: stop breathing bad air indoors, keep the PM 2.5 low
-wool boxers for guys: plastic on your junk is lame
I don't add bananas to my smoothies.
Why?
Not because bananas are bad (I love bananas). They contain polyphenol oxidase, an enzyme that can break down polyphenols. And studies suggest that when you add banana to a blueberry smoothie, you may absorb fewer of the beneficial polyphenols from the berries!
So instead, I use avocado. It gives the smoothie the same creamy texture with the bonus of monounsaturated fat in avocado, which can increase absorption of carotenoids like lutein and zeaxanthin from kale - nutrients important for eye and brain health.
I talked about this recently on my appearance on The Mel Robbins Podcast.
Burger King was one of the few fast food chains who refused to disclose their ingredients
They just quietly released them this year and it’s so much worse than anyone could have imagined
- 120 ingredients in The Royal Chicken Spicy Sandwich
- 85 ingredients in their Whopper
The Whopper’s 85 different ingredients include multiple seed oils, processed sugars, preservatives
In the bun, you have things like potassium iodate, banned in Europe, UK, Australia, New Zealand. Also in the bun, you have mono and diglycerides, which are a preservative and dough conditioner which cause gut inflammation
The Royal Chicken Spicy Sandwich’s 120 ingredients include
- Multiple dough conditioners, which can lead to gut issues
- Silicone dioxide, the nanoparticles of which may be inflammatory in the human gut, multiple seed oils
- A piece of processed chicken coated in flour and food starches, battered, fried in rancid oxidized seed oils
- It contains antifoaming agents that are also found in Silly Putty, like dimethylpolysiloxane
- 3 different types of sauces, one of which has over 25 different ingredients.
“Burger King might just be the worst fast-food restaurant I've ever seen”
This is not food. It’s a chemical science experiment engineered to be as addictive as possible
No sandwich should ever include 85-120 ingredients
can confirm as a medium jacked human that 20 min a day in the gym/working out is enough for most.
20-40 pull-ups (sets of 10)
90 push ups (sets of 30)
10 pistol squats each leg
40 deep squats
20 walking lunges
30 standing jumps
...is a super simple regimen and very effective. Most should have time in the day for this.
what did I leave out?
