Cities across the nation like Austin are running out of ARPA funds and facing major budget gaps. Now Congress is proposing $2 trillion in cuts to pay for billionaire tax cuts.
Our communities need major INVESTMENTS! Not cuts!
NEW: 70+ orgs sound the alarm on federal budget cuts on 4th anniversary of the American Rescue Plan Act.
We saw the good that bold investments from the federal gov’t did for our communities - but now those same services are under attack!

Thank you to @vocaltexas ✨ Thank you to @vocaltexas and everyone who joined for the Building Safe and Thriving Communities Advocacy Day at the Capitol. The Texas Legislative Session has started, and we are speaking up and showing up for harm reduction!
Take a look behind the scenes at our participation in VOCAL TX's advocacy days! Shoutout to @vocaltexas for hosting this event and giving us an opportunity to speak on the need for community care, harm reduction, and the removal of barriers to housing and health.
We were in the news last week! Here are some snapshots of the headlines.
When we fight, we win! We are just getting started. Follow us to get involved!
Thank you @KVUE for speaking w/ me at the @VOCALTexas rally to end the overdose crisis. It's past time for the #txlege to join 40 other states in legalizing life-saving fentanyl test strips. I filed HB1496 to make this a reality & keep our communities safe https://t.co/2Nvja8aiZi
Happy to meet with @VOCALTexas and learn of their efforts to raise awareness and save lives in our community. These advocates are making great change!

Justice, love, and compassion are how we lead at VOCAL-Kentucky.
Yesterday, while some of us stood in solidarity with our sister organization VOCAL-Texas at their state Capitol and the Cicero Institute (responsible for bad copycat legislation like #HB5, The Safer Kentucky Act), our VOCAL-Kentucky members, leaders, and staff delivered Love Letters to all of our state Legislators in our Capitol, Frankfort, Kentucky, and to Louisville Metro Council. For some, this was a re-introduction, and for others, it was another chance to tell the story of our membership led organization.
These decision makers decide who gets what, when, where, and how. We want to make sure they focus on saving and improving lives in all of our 120 counties, no matter the zip code.
We are building power together ❤️ #happyvalentinesday

ACT 4 SA staff & volunteers joined @VOCALTEXAS on 2/12 and 2/13 to meet with legislators, have policy conversations, and rally for housing, services, and care for all! We were honored to stand with folks from @vocalkentucky, @vocalnewyork, & @texashra telling their stories.
"This week, @VOCALTexas along with allies from across the state & country, worked to uplift effective solutions to Texas’ historic housing & overdose crisis. We also exposed the harmful & cruel approaches of the Cicero Institute..."

@Seasoned4u@VOCALKentucky Milton Perez, repping @VOCALNewYork, out here with a message: we gotta ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE.
We won’t let Joe Lonsdale and his billionaires attack people who are just trying to survive. We need housing and care - not tickets and arrests!
HAPPENING NOW:
We took our rally straight to Cicero’s front door! We refuse to let billionaires run our country into the ground. Joe Lonsdale - keep your greedy hands off our laws!
@Seasoned4u from @VOCALKentucky out here standing solidarity. Cicero pushed for HB 5 - the bill that made camping illegal (aka a way to target people who are homeless). SHAME!
