Under the leadership of Her Excellency @MamaRachelRuto, the Voice of Children Initiative is committed to creating an environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
A simple pair of school shoes can do so much more than protect little feet. They restore dignity, inspire confidence, and give every child the freedom to focus on learning, growing, and pursuing their dreams without unnecessary barriers.
This morning, I spent time with pupils at Karen C Comprehensive School in Nairobi, talking to them about the importance of education, discipline and hard work in achieving their dreams.
Today, we celebrate the voices, dreams, and limitless potential of every African child.
Their voices matter. Their ideas matter. Their future matters.
When children are heard, empowered, and protected, Africa’s future shines brighter.
#DayOfTheAfricanChild
On this World Environment Day, we are reminded that caring for our environment is not a choice, it is a responsibility.
This year’s theme, “A Global Call for Climate Action,” challenges us to take bold and practical steps to protect our planet for future generations.
Through tree growing, sustainable agriculture, responsible consumption, and environmental stewardship, each of us can contribute to a greener, healthier, and more resilient world.
Let us act today for the sake of tomorrow.
We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of young lives following the dormitory fire at Utumishi Girls Academy.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families, friends, teachers, and the entire school community during this painful time. We pray for God’s comfort, strength, and peace for all those affected, and for the quick recovery of those injured.
The loss of learners with bright futures and great promise is a heartbreaking tragedy for the entire nation.
Our team was on the ground in Porro and Lpartuk Schools, Samburu County, engaging learners through impactful sessions on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and the importance of dignity, health, and confidence for every child.
We also distributed MHM kits to support girls in staying in school and learning with confidence, alongside essential learning materials donated through the Merck Foundation, helping strengthen access to education.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our partners—the Dawoodi Bohra Community, the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, and the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation—for their collaboration and commitment to improving the lives of our children.
Through the Voice of Children initiative, Her Excellency Mama Rachel Ruto continues to champion the well-being and success of learners across the country—ensuring every child is supported through provision, protected in their environment, and given a platform to be heard.
At Unoa Comprehensive School in Wote, Makueni County, this commitment is evident through access to clean water, improved classrooms, a new computer lab for digital learning, and school shoes for every learner—creating a safe and empowering space for children to thrive.
I returned to Unoa Comprehensive School in Wote, Makueni County, where a promise I made during the celebration of the Day of the African Child on 16th June 2025 is now a transformation fulfilled. What was once a dusty field is now a dignified learning environment, with water from a newly drilled borehole, greener school grounds, renovated classrooms, and a thriving kitchen garden nurturing both learning and nutrition.
