This post marks the start of our E-Bike Safety Awareness Campaign.
We have heard your concerns regarding unsafe and reckless e-bike riding in our community, and we want you to know those concerns are being taken seriously.
Through education, enforcement, and community partnership, we will continue working to promote safe and lawful riding throughout Vienna.
Follow along in the coming weeks as we share safety tips, Virginia traffic laws, nighttime visibility information, guidance for parents and riders, and more!
Together, we can help make our community safer.

As a follow-up to our earlier post recognizing PFC Patrick Ludwick for his life-saving actions on February 1st, we are proud to share that he has now been recognized by the Town of Vienna with a STAR Award.
PFC Ludwick was honored for his response to a CPR in
progress involving an unresponsive person. Remaining
calm under pressure, he immediately began
performing CPR until rescue personnel arrived and took over care.
The award was presented by Chief Daniel Janickey and Town Manager Mercury Payton. We are extremely
proud of PFC Ludwick and his dedication to serving our community.
Walk, Bike, or Run to School Day was a hit! 🚶♀️🚲🏃♂️
Students showed up ready to move, and we were happy to join them along the way. Our Bike Unit and Motors Unit helped keep things safe, while Marlin made his rounds collecting pets. Special guest Chase made an appearance and quickly became the most popular officer on scene.
Lots of smiles. Lots of movement. And a great way to start the day.
Thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a fun and safe event.
Morning coffee, bikes, and community. ☀️🚲
Our Chief and Major were welcomed by the neighborhood as families gathered to walk and ride to school together. What started as a simple invitation for coffee and treats turned into a really special morning.
Kids lined up with their bikes, parents caught up with neighbors, and there was a lot of smiling along the way.
Thank you for having us!

Vienna Little League Opening Day ⚾🧢
We were proud to be part of Opening Day at Vienna Little League as they kicked off their 75th season at Yeonas Park.
Chief Daniel Janickey joined VLL President Greg Skelton and the community to celebrate the start of another great season.
Good luck to all the players this year. Let’s play ball!
Who’s a good boy? Marlin is. 🐾
Our very own facility support dog, Marlin, was honored with the Rotarian M. Jane Seeman “Service Above Self” Award.
Alongside his handler, Detective Marcos Herrera, Marlin provides comfort to victims, families, and even our own officers during some of life’s toughest moments. Most recently, he spent time supporting families affected by the Potomac River mid-air collision, bringing calm and compassion when it was needed most.
From the police department to the community, Marlin shows every day what it means to put others first.
We’re proud of you, Marlin.
Thank you Vienna, you delivered!
Yesterday, we collected 249 pounds of unused and expired medications during the DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative.
That’s 249 pounds safely disposed of, rather than accidentally ending up in the wrong hands.
Shoutout to Claudia Bravo with Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services for partnering with us, and to our four-legged friend Teddy for stopping by and boosting morale.
Whether it was one pill or the whole medicine cabinet, thank you to everyone who came out and made an impact!
