MECC Construction Update: Another good week. We continue with footings and foundations and site utilities and now masonry walls above ground. We had some soil correction issues in the west parking lot but our team worked together diligently to keep the project moving forward.
MECC Construction Update: Our work in 9th Avenue went better than planned and was open to traffic on Wednesday of this week Beating our two-week time frame by five days! This week we finished installing the sanitary sewer main and 1,000 feet of water line.

We had another productive week this week pouring 305 feet of footings and 364 feet of walls The Sanitary manhole and our water main tie in were made and sidewalk curb and gutter were replaced they will install the base course of asphalt next ahead of schedule!

MECC Construction Update: We had a good week this week. We poured concrete every day. Approximately 600 feet of footings and walls this week. Our
last embed delivery for the precast panels showed up today. It is off to the races now!
MECC Construction Update:
Happy Friday All! Our Geo Pier Contractor finished the last of the Geo Piers on Thursday!! They lost a day of production on Tuesday due to equipment issues and rain. Looking ahead, next week we have our 1st footing pour scheduled for Monday at 1:30.
Our Movie Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker originally scheduled for Tuesday will be shown TONIGHT (Thursday) starting at dusk (9ish) in Olcott park by the fountain. Bring your lawnchair and pick your favorite spot to enjoy the final installment of the Skywalker Series.
MECC Construction Update:
Our Geo Pier Contractor is continuing work on the Geo Piers. Production has picked up. Wednesday we set up what is called a Modulus test to make sure it will support the design weight of the building in that location. It passed with flying colors!
Virginia Park Staff spent today installing additional playground equipment at the Pine Mill Playground. This project was made possible by generous contributions from The Virginia Community Foundation, Virginia Lakes and Community Beautification Committee and the City of Virginia
Beginning tomorrow, July 13 2020 Baileys Lake Trail will be closed for Reconstruction. The Mesabi Trail has detour signs posted. Please do not attempt to utilize the trail until construction is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may temporarily cause.
MECC Construction Update:
Our Geo Pier Contractor arrived on site this past week. Monday through Wednesday they set up the crane and their Geo Pier installing system. There are 453 piers to install. We estimate approximately 14 days of installation time.
Today starting at 3:00PM until after the fireworks display portions of 9th Ave and W Chestnut St will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, this includes portions of the Silver Lake trail. We hope you will enjoy our fireworks display that will begin at 10:15PM

This week we finished our soil corrections under the building foot print. Again, no surprises. Testing continues and has passed with flying colors! Additionally we will be starting Geo Piers and site utilities next week so our work continues on schedule
MECC Construction Update: Soil corrections continued to go well this week they are about 80% complete. Even better news is that they anticipate completing the soil corrections mid-week next week, so we should see a drastic decrease of truck traffic and dust on 9th Ave.

We have made progress with our soil corrections we estimate that they are about 55% complete so that means that the truck traffic on 9th Ave will not be lasting much longer. Testing and observation continues and have all passed with flying colors!
Today we officially broke ground on the MECC. This project wouldn't be possible without the immense public input, engagement and support that we have recieved. We would like to thank everyone who has helped get us to this point today .
