There are evident parallels with Trump. Desperate or angry people seem simply unable to see the obvious grift and malevolence. But also, much of the media (not least @BBCNews) has given him too much of a free ride.
People in positions of global political power have such an opportunity to astonish the world with new, creative ways to be human—to hear the weeping, to work new mercies—to be artists whose medium is the human soul. But most choose instead to protect the wealth of a few friends. And to make more graves. And to write, in blood and money, the same old pages of history.
How uncreative, how banal, how illustrative of the fact that evil, at its core, is a devastating lack of imagination.
Isn’t it great that we’re celebrating David Attenborough’s 100th birthday whilst ignoring the message he’s spent the last 20 years trying to get through to us:
I prosecute and defend the most serious sexual offences in our courts.
The overwhelming majority of offenders are British-born. Overwhelmingly the victim is someone known to them, either a partner or relative.
Anybody purporting to care about protecting women might start there.
🚨 You can literally pinpoint the exact moment he realises he hasn’t thought this through.
A moment many anti trans voices will have at some point in the future.
It bears repeating today: the women celebrating the UK supreme court ruling do not speak for me. History shows that the rights of women and the rights of trans people will rise and fall together. My safety as a cis woman will never spring from the persecution of trans women.
Solidarity with trans women after today’s Supreme Court ruling.
The rollback of LGBT rights — especially trans rights — is global, bankrolled by billionaires and the far-right.
Trans rights are human rights. We must defend the Equality Act and its protections for trans people.
When we said the US anti-abortion extremists had their sights set on the UK, we really weren't kidding.
Across Britain, Parliaments voted for these laws to protect women. We're not backing down.

Men say “they’re not men” re. Pelicot and the other rapists. Oh, they very much are. In fact you probably know a guy like this, they walk amongst us, they don’t identify themselves. All men will continue to benefit from women’s fear until they actually act and help to end this.
Gisele Pelicot should be the Time person of the year. For bravely waiving her anonymity in one of the most horrific rape cases the world has seen, to take a stand for survivors and shame the perpetrators.
Instead they’re featuring Trump, a rapist, for the second time. Obviously.
