@benz145@EricPresidentVR So longer games like Wrath II and already established franchises like Half Life, Resident Evil or Assassin's Creed are key, we need a lot more of those. 2nd half of '23 is looking much better for Quest than previous years but it's only a first step. 2/2
@benz145@EricPresidentVR GAAS try to be the only game you need, so one game achieves retention. But traditionally of course a platform achieves retention with a well rounded library and a steady stream of new releases. Fair offerings with a good price/value proposition, popular IPs, the like. 1/2

@David_Jagneaux There's a Kabuki adaptation which can now be streamed until October, 346 minutes run time, with English subtitles.

Kabuki is a traditional form of Japanese all male dance theatre. It speaks for the game's cultural pedigree to receive such an adaptation.
To celebrate the 22nd anniversary of FFX, we're streaming the traditional Japanese theatrical "New Kabuki Final Fantasy X" in 19 countries and regions until October 31st.

The show is performed in Japanese with English subtitles.
@NimaZeighami Could be the activation gesture: hold the photo as intended, then cover one eye with the other hand. Game registers this as command to materialize the photo.
I'm sure they could figure something out.
@Heaney555@benz145 Unless customers favor the new (66% more expensive) Quest 3 model in vast numbers, I expect to see Quest 2 around for another 2 years. Ideally Quest 2 and Quest 3 will sell similar numbers going forward, with combined numbers maintaining or outdoing Quest 2's previous sales pace.
@SadlyItsBradley @KevinBr95853902 @benz145 This includes software library. Slower progress will be made with form factor in regards to comfort. Better passthrough, better resolution, mixed reality apps, less cumbersome UI and generally further reduced friction will all help to keep users inside headsets.
@SadlyItsBradley @KevinBr95853902 @benz145 I partially agree with your 2nd statement as in Q2 was more ready than previous attempts but there's still a lot of room for improvement.
Which is why I think current Q2 (improved firmware), Q3 and future models will do better based on better overall value proposition.
When the VR characters forcibly distract you from the game, that pulls you back to reality, the virtual one that is. Feels amazingly real, when you've been immersed twice and the VR is so much more fully realized than the retro game. 2/2
So since the first half of 2023 is over, here's my best of #VR for these first 6 months:
Resident Evil VIllage
Humanity
Horizon: Call of the Mountain
Vertigo 2
Another Fisherman's Tale
We Are One
Gran Turismo 7
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure
Awkward... I forgot to list Pixel Ripped 1978. Its "game within a game" formula still works brilliantly. Basically it hacks immersion breaking to reach deep immersion, by putting you into VR first then have you play flat retro games in it. 1/2
@benz145 Why not both? Especially if your game is heavily build around artificial locomotion, release it to both flat and VR, and warn people of the artificial locomotion. VR players who like this kind of game will support you and the flat market will to, if the game is good.
