John Cleese, 86, is being targeted by activist group Deenified as he tours England with his Holy Grail stage show. The group has accused him on X of "using your platform to attack Islam" and "spreading dangerous misinformation," with one activist calling free speech "a convenient shield for anti-Muslim hostility."

Cleese rejects the Islamophobe label entirely, calling himself "Islamosceptic," and has pointed out nobody ever called him "Christophobic" after Life of Brian. Islamic outlet 5Pillars has gone further still, explicitly demanding he be de-platformed.

Rupert Lowe has already called this what it is: a pressure group trying to bully an 86-year-old man into silence over jokes and honest opinions. He's right, and he's right to tell Restore Britain to back Cleese publicly.

These people don't want dialogue. They want submission. Every time someone caves to this kind of pressure, it teaches them the tactic works, and they come back harder next time for the next target. Cleese is refusing to bow, and every single person who values the right to criticise a religion without getting hounded for it should be standing directly behind him.

Protect @JohnCleese, at all costs.

@sparbuchfeinde Hast du mal in den USA gelebt? Hast du eine Idee, was bei längerer Erkrankung passiert, wenn der Job wegfällt? Welche Behandlungen übernommen werden? Wie man als Selbstzahler finanziell behandelt wird? Nein? Vieles ist in USA besser - Krankenversicherung sicher nicht.

@albiparvi @JB928347 @sparbuchfeinde Hey, immer mit der Ruhe. Es ging hier um „junge Familie“. Wer mit Anfang 30 ein freistehendes EFH im teuersten Ballungsraum braucht, braucht halt auch nen dementsprechenden Job. Das ging sonst früher nicht, und heute auch nicht. Und das ist auch völlig ok so.

@NiemalsStill85 @sparbuchfeinde Ja, das sind 150k weniger als die 700k. Für ein nagelneues Reihenhaus. Auf Immoscout findest du in Köln Reihenhäuser um 100qm im Bereich 400k-500k. Was heißt „einfache Ausstattung“? Wir reden von einer jungen Familie - die müssen halt noch 10 Jahre ohne Wintergarten klarkommen.

@JB928347 @sparbuchfeinde Ja klar, früher alleinstehendes Haus im teuren Ballungsraum für junge Familien null Problem. Bin mit doppelt Gutverdiener-Eltern im Reihenhaus aufgewachsen, wir waren bestimmt prekär.

@sparbuchfeinde Evtl muss es dann halt vielleicht ein Reihenhaus werden. Oder weiter draußen. Das Problem scheinen mir hier eher die Ansprüche darzustellen als die Finanzierung.
