@pizzaplanet777@JesseGalef Depends... Is it a prison built by the Trump administration? Or a GOP run state? Then yes.
Is it a prison in a Democrat state? No, no... That’s totally different you see! 🙄
@BrownsLaws@mofrank12@JesseGalef@juliagalef Yes, but we’re not talking about concentration camps.
(Unless jails=kz camps?)
We’re talking about temporary detainment facilities for illegal immigrants.
Something that any country that faces illegal immigration has: Denmark, France, Israel etc.
@mofrank12@JesseGalef@juliagalef Now you may disagree with the implementation.
But physically isolating illegal aliens isn’t extraordinary, it’s perfectly normal.
Which is why comparisons with Nazi Germany are even more dishonest.
@mofrank12@JesseGalef@juliagalef Yep, good point.
That (misleading and insulting) connotation is exactly what some people want.
Because the truth is, that EVERY OTHER COUNTRY has similar facilities for illegal aliens/immigrants.
It’s not outrageous, it’s in fact perfectly normal.
@Gianoia@JesseGalef (Sigh)
Not to nitpick, but no, that’s not correct.
You have to distinguish between KZ-camps and extermination camps. Two different things.
The German KZ camps weren’t particularly novel.
@sfmnemonic@chrislhayes But hey, looking on the bright side, the people interned in these could always be worse off.
Like, for example if they were in Denmark instead of the US.
(Denmark is planning to move all detained illegal aliens out to a deserted island. Yes, I kid you not!)
@sfmnemonic@chrislhayes We’re talking about temporary internment facilities for illegal aliens/immigrants.
It’s nothing unique or unusual. Denmark has facilities like that, Greece, France. Any country that has a problem with illegal immigration. And conditions are similar too.
@renormalized@ddp@JesseGalef@TheRealSpaf There’s literally nothing that indicates that these places are designed to “punish individuals”.
They’re designed to temporarily hold illegal immigrants. Period.
Just like detention facilities in Scandinavia, Greece or anywhere else are.
@renormalized@ddp@JesseGalef@TheRealSpaf And it also just happens that Godwin is wrong about this one.
The purpose of a concentration camp is to intern a particular group, temporarily.
@renormalized@ddp@JesseGalef@TheRealSpaf Probably important to remind people, that the namesake of “Godwin’s Law” isn’t really an expert on anything.
He’s a lawyer who happened to make a funny observation.
That’s it.
@foalpapers@BronyCon Isn’t this kinda self contradictory?
If a Brony doesn’t use male pronouns, he’s not a brony but just a regular MLP fan.
Here’s a handy cheat sheet:
He/Him: Brony
She/xe/xir/etc.: MLP Fan
@Tikbalang15@CPU_CWCSonichu@foalpapers@BronyCon Ask Jesus! He borrowed them from Chrissie, and hasn’t returned them.
Hopefully CWC will remind him about it, since I understand they’re in regular communication.
@foalpapers@BronyCon I see that noted harasser and stalker Christine W Chandler supports your proposal.
Remember CWC: No means no, even when you use the right pronoun!
@ljmontello I’m very sorry to hear that.
Male on male/gay sexual harassment is a problem that gets far too little attention.
The stereotype that gay men are supposed to be promiscuous doesn’t exactly help either.
