Decapited bees?? The telltale sign of a tiny Pygmy Shrew! They have a preference for the flight muscles of bees, which they access by taking off their heads! They can eat a lot of bees so check your hives and get out those entrance reducers! They can crawl through a 1 cm hole!

Is it finally bee season! The first to emerge are native, ground-dwelling cellophane bees. Be aware of this when mowing or prepping your gardens. They are extremely gentle, unlikely to sting and will be busy preparing their nests in sandy dry souls. See if you can spot one!
