This spring our Graduate Seminar students spent time focusing on how to best communicate about science!
They each worked on and presented speeches addressing common food science and safety misconceptions!
Our Food, War, and Conflict course brings together students to analyze the implications that conflict has on the food industry.
Students in this class recently explored a rationing simulator, learning how difficult it can be to ration food in times of conflict.
We had an exceptional group of students who presented at the 2026 CALS Research Summit earlier this week! We had one undergraduate student place first in the poster section, while a group of graduate students swept the top awards in their poster presentation competition๐

Students in our Food Analysis class got some hands-on experience in chromatography!
They separated the artificial colors in orange, green, and purple Kool-Aid into their red, blue, and yellow components based on the differences in each dye's polarity ๐งช
Our Applied Brewing Science and Engineering class is back in the pilot plant investigating flavor profiles of different strains of yeast! Check out the beer brewing process as students pitched the yeast after filling the fermentation vessels with wort ๐ป
