@callumallen017@VilladanishDK Fuming? They’d never won the champions league!! He played a massive role that season in making history for the club. Yeah, it’s disappointing he then dropped off, but he then showed up at Everton, got player of the month, & looked great.
@callumallen017@VilladanishDK Grealish played a huge role on winning the treble at Man City! He wasn’t a flop at all. Just stopped suiting their style of play, when pep started preferring direct wingers.
@Ktm87K@pokeefe1@themagic_tophat@ToonFan14 Let me guess, new to football? We’re one trophy behind Spurs historically and have won the biggest honour, which neither north London team has. We’re also a founding team. The reason two clubs joined then was because those clubs didnt have the same restrictions we now do.
@thegoalzone Anyone suggesting he’s not top 2 or 3 is out of their mind!!! We had an awful summer, an awful start to the season, lost our 3 best midfielders all at once, and still finished top 4 and won Rhe Europa League!! Oh, but Brentford came 9th and Keith Andrews is nice.
@SM66634659@pokeefe1@themagic_tophat@ToonFan14 asides from football. Both spurs and United can afford to be in billions of debt also cos of the low risk of London infrastructure investment. Now, they’ve prevented other clubs getting close j fee the guise of sustainability. But Villa are run by an experienced sports mgt group
@SM66634659@pokeefe1@themagic_tophat@ToonFan14 Yea, Liverpool and Man Utd were already massive due to the timing of their most successful periods. It coincided with football going global and thus they built huge global brands. 3 of the other 4 are London based & can thus make at least 2X revenue from other income streams…
@pokeefe1@themagic_tophat@ToonFan14 What we have now produced, under the guise of avoiding financial crises at clubs, is a league where certain clubs can spend 10X more than others, which is just not sport. You will always have certain owners spending more or being more conservative, but it should be a choice
@pokeefe1@themagic_tophat@ToonFan14 Drivel time again!!! The big clubs got big because of the timing of their success. Timing is often quite a big thing in business. They got big as football became global. There is also the London bias - no coincidence that 3 of the big 6 are in London. Also both Chelsea and…
@pokeefe1@themagic_tophat@ToonFan14 Man City were able to build revenues massively based on being able to invest disproportionately at that time. When any business grows, you have to make decisions - like Villa did with SCR - in order to reach the next level. Scale often works by taking a hit for a few years!!
@StanCollymore I don't think it's that deep. Several are taking numbers that they have at club level or have had at England previously. Rice has always been 4 for England. And, as James wanted 24, it means someone has to take 2.
@AVFCTheReligion@garystonehouse Surely, they'd just receive 20% of the profit? I assume we've paid £15m for him now, as that was total with add-ons. So, they'd get £17m.
