VVSD Learning Environment Coordinators ensure each elementary school has a safe, responsive environment that nurtures children to reach their full potential.✌️
Stronger relationships = stronger schools. Maybe you can help someone answer one of these questions today.
1. Am I important to someone here?
2. Do I belong here?
3. Am I good at something here?
4. Who will listen to me here?
5. Is my presence here making a difference?
Congrats to Raider Alum Tuf Borland on being signed to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad! We KNOW he will take full advantage of the opportunity he’s been given! #RaiderPride#TheBrook
How many weekends have you spent worrying about upcoming lesson plans, required paperwork, or weekly reporting?
🙋♀️ 🙋♂️ Too many.
That’s why we think educators need rest. Relax with these strategies:
Before we provide explicit #SEL instruction to our students, we must first be intentional about creating a sense of #belonging & #community within our classrooms & schools. Only then can we begin the important work of nurturing our student's growth and progress. #relationships1st
You can take this to the bank: successful people don’t waste time criticizing people less successful than themselves. It’s usually people doing less than you who are your biggest critics. Keep shining and dim your light for no one.
Weak leaders blame the messenger. They see problems as threats to their ego.
Strong leaders thank the messenger. They see problems as threats to their mission.
Great leaders promote the messenger. They see recognizing and raising problems as acts of vision and courage.
🥰🥰🥰 Kids aren't necessarily being rude or defiant. Their amygdala is taking over and acting on the perceived threat.... yours might be doing the same... take some deep breathes to help think rationally.
Refusing to blame kids for their achievement / productivity issues this year DOES NOT mean that teachers are to blame. Far from it. Teachers are doing more than ever.
In my district, it is my ship. All blame starts with me. The solutions, however, must involve all of us.
Ah, you’re preparing kids for the real world...
So, you’re...
...allowing retakes.
...extending deadlines.
...allowing resources on tests.
...letting them pursue their passions.
...giving them evenings/weekends off.
Thank you. It’s important to prepare them for the world.
More studies are needed, but the research thus far hints that a restorative justice approach to discipline helps people feel respected and that they, in turn, show greater respect for rules. https://t.co/Ua8BKyagpV
