@TFO_Challenger@GoatKing_2b Rolling isn’t trickery, it’s the way the game goes “Ha! Gotcha!” with a stagger into an unavoidable punish. Compare that with Midra’s slam. The game has taught you well that a slam move isn’t usually the end, and you’re rewarded for your intuition.
@TFO_Challenger@GoatKing_2b PCR however feels very boring and annoying to fight since I’m not building on skills I’ve learned, I’m memorizing specifics of his attacks that apply to he and he alone. Every death feels like “Well I don’t think that’s fair.” since it’s more trickery than a test.
@TFO_Challenger@GoatKing_2b If you don’t mind, I’m gonna compare PCR to Isshin. I think Isshin is masterful since he builds on mechanics and acts as an ultimate test of your understanding. Every death is refinement of your skills, so it feels like my fault rather than intentional trickery.
@TFO_Challenger@GoatKing_2b Learning that pattern is the difficult part. There’s 3 ways to roll “into,” and depending on the move, 1-2 of them will get you caught and hit. l personally don’t enjoy bosses that require tens of attempts because their attacks result in near instant death for every one mistake.
@kozlovskyi79217 If you ONLY had DS1 at the time and you were making a sequel, I feel DS2 was a pretty natural evolution on it. The build crafting peaked here
@WeebiestBear Imagine if you were able to fight him if while Susie and Ralsei were downed. Imagine them confronting you about it? Feels like a shitty thing to do, hurting your friends so you can get what you want. But sadly, there’s only one ending.
@Dragonogon I like some of the Deltarune characters, but the Undertale ones are so much more charming, and it’s impressive given how little time there is to actually introduce all of them. While Deltarune has more complexity, I think it’s weird how the simpler characters felt more fun
@Dragonogon Undertale with Deltarune polish would be amazing. But I think my preference towards Undertale is just the fact that I could be so much more connected to the world and characters.
@HignightTr61734@mekkame @Bunner_only @DrAwesomeV2 Lets be fair though, the theories were gonna go to shit the moment scott decided to make FNAF 4 the result of “illusion discs”
@Invinium I liked it cause he was easy enough to beat in a few attempts. Felt like an interactive victory lap after defeating Radagon. Yeah Radagon was cooler, but Elden Beast feels like a “I did it” fight
@kozlovskyi79217 Regardless of personal favorites, Elden Ring is just objectively their best title to date. I played through recently and was genuinely shocked people disliked Elden Beast, since it only took me 3 attempts (not counting the countless Radagon attempts) to beat it.
@spookydoodyt For additional context: This isn’t me saying that it should be inverse, it’s that both creators “showed AND told”, so saying one is guilty of “show don’t tell” while the other “totally doesn’t do that in his dialogue based game” is just strange.
@spookydoodyt “Show, don’t tell” doesn’t mean anything anymore. The TADC finale “showed” Jax’s backstory through the lens of his perspective. Undertale “told” the functions of the barrier through Asgore. That image is disingenuous and I dislike seeing it.
@ClicheDoodles The “choices not mattering” part could be interesting, but honestly I just need to wait and see. Me personally, I loved being able to do numerous routes with focus on fighting or sparing in Undertale (TPacifist was my favorite), so Deltarune’s gameplay just isn’t for me.
@yayxinos When the chapters are released in such long gaps, you’re forced to indulge with the little story you have at all. I think its not that there’s no faith in toby, but we’re on chapter 5 and still being vague about a lot of important plot points.
