As the idea of euthanizing patients and taking their organs continues to expand - now supported by the Transplantation Society - I will continue to reiterate:
There are no adequate safeguards that can make this ethical.

When New York asks Catholic nuns to submit to a culture of death, they fight back. The nuns and several Catholic healthcare ministries are taking the state to court, saying they cannot be forced to participate in assisted suicide. @TylerArnold18@EWTNews https://t.co/27NoZUZ7pB

The threat to the integrity of the medical profession from legalizing assisted suicide is two-fold. We lose the trust of our patients when they're most vulnerable who will appropriately question our dedication to preserving life and promoting health... and (as we've seen in Canada) the elites in our profession and their partners in government who champion individual autonomy will deal with their guilty consciences by demanding the rest of medicine comply. Anyone who takes the Imago Dei seriously will no longer have a place in medicine.
In 10,204 patients on MV, "lighter sedation, allowing for recognition of emotional distress and for patient mobility, was associated with a lower risk of loss of independent living."

New York State & the UK are considering legalizing assisted suicide, following in the footsteps of Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, & several US states.
Join us at 6:30 p.m. EST on Monday, June 2, for an online panel discussion with Eve Slater, M.D., and @AudreyPollnow to consider the consequences of state-sanctioned euthanasia, and what our response – and responsibility – as followers of Jesus should be. Moderated by @suzania.
