This is unbelievably tone deaf of the Royal College and questions the credibility of messaging regarding support for COVID response and resident wellness. How can we ask residents to disrupt their training to answer the call to help when we aren't willing to have their backs???

I don't think the @Royal_College cares about residents and patients at all. I remember being an R3 last March as things were ramping up, they were reluctant to postpone the exam which added to the stress of the unknown. 1/n

@Royal_College What’s most frustrating is the lack of transparency about why unanimous pleas of all IM residents have not been accommodated in the slightest. You have rendered us powerless, and our voices don’t matter. Please provide some rationale for throwing us back in the fire. @CBCNews

Perhaps @Royal_College should take a page from the @TheUSMLE, who have taken the opportunity this pandemic to reflect on the actual utility of a “modified” oral exam - similar to what we’d be put through. How is Canada so behind...?

@Royal_College The oral exam should be cancelled permanently for the present PGY2 and PGY3 cohort who have worked 26h on call without relief, lost electives, isolated from family, with immense mental health pressure from an unrelenting pandemic. We stepped up. Pls help us.
