@TubRorabaugh I think states should do away with primaries. Why should taxpayers be required to pay for party nomination contests? It is even worse in states where they legally ban some people from participation.
The good news is that the House of Representatives has voted to end Trump's unconstitutional war in Iran. The bad news is that my awful Congressman, Ben Cline (VA-6), has once again voted with Trump and against the Constitution.

@Lalligangof9@royermattw It depends on the method of nomination. If a Republican or Democrat is unopposed or the party doesn’t use a primary for nomination then they don’t need to collect signatures.
@Rlues1@royermattw I haven’t looked at Germany’s requirements yet but thank you for that info. It seems in New Zealand all candidates require only two signatures from voters in the district.
@Rlues1@royermattw So far in my research I've found many democracies have the same rules for all candidates regardless of their political affiliation or lack thereof.
@TheModerateVA I was working for the Republican Party of Virginia when the marriage amendment passed back in 2006. It was a big deal then but people are a lot more accepting twenty years later. Live and let live I say. Then again, I was kicked out of the RPV 12 years ago unrelated to this issue
Today, I walked through Lower Hutt. One great thing about living in an area with many cultures is you can find a lot of stuff from around the world nearby. I bought tea cakes from Britain, stroopwaffles and Gouda from the Netherlands, and mochi from Taiwan.
This year, I had to pay taxes in both the U.S. and N.Z. In the U.S. you have to fill out complicated forms or pay someone to do it for you. In N.Z. I didn’t fill out anything and just received a notice that they would be issuing me a small refund.
@NancyMace These kinds of posts makes me think that Ms. Mace might have some kind of mental illness. Trump has clearly rejected you and yet you still desperately cling to him. My advice is to stop defending someone who treats you like garbage.
