“A Message from Virginia Medicaid” https://t.co/DcqrwEI1lu
This week we launched Virginia’s Cardinal Care Managed Care program, a landmark initiative that will deliver best-in-class Medicaid services for nearly 2 million Virginians by providing:
✅ Driving innovation with a focus on measurable quality and outcomes
✅ Safeguarding taxpayer dollars through tighter limits on managed-care profits
✅ Expanding data analytics to monitor compliance and boost oversight and accountability
✅ Integrating behavioral health as part of our Right Help, Right Now transformation plan for full mental health access
✅ Streamlining administrative and payment processes to strengthen provider capacity
✅ Providing dedicated health plans and services for children and youth in foster care
Cardinal Care puts Virginians first with improved services, better outcomes, and responsible stewardship.
On Monday, February 3, Governor Youngkin, DMAS, and the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services celebrated the amazing work done to provide quality care for Virginians with developmental disabilities.
Today and yesterday, DMAS staff attended the 2024 HHS Boot Camp where we were able to highlight our mission, commitment and work to Virginia Medicaid. It was a great way for myself and fellow ELT staff to speak with legislators on updates within Medicaid programs!
Yesterday, DMAS held its agencywide meeting, coinciding with the 59th birthday of Medicaid and Medicare. It was a pleasure catching up with staff members who make DMAS what it is today and getting to introduce our new Secretary of Health & Human Resources, @janetvkelly!
The DMAS team presented to the House Health and Human Services Committee this week. It was a great opportunity to talk about the work we do to improve the health and wellness of our Medicaid members and to share our vision for the future!

Last week, DMAS hosted its first in a series of regional provider summits in Abingdon, VA. This was an opportunity to hear from the southwest provider community about their interests and concerns, and share more about Virginia Medicaid initiatives. Thank you to all who attended!
