Got to say, I'm feeling pretty proud lately for knowing so many fantastic breeders. Saw Kate Evans' new Cosmic Crisp in my better homes and gardens magazine. I got a preview of that a few years back and it is definitely worth trying!
Very excited to see this at our Kroger here in East Tennessee. The hardest part of being a plant breeder is going to NAPB meetings and hearing about and sampling all the great new varieties/hybrids in the works and then having to wait for them to come to market. #tastilee#NAPB
@grasslandJerry@UTcrops I completely agree that variety evaluations are essential and that is our next step this fall. For this study, we tried to use what was available locally (often only a single variety or vns). This study does give a broader picture of what you can expect by functional group.
Harvesting our silage variety trial at the East TN Research and Education Center. It's a hot job, but someone's got to do it. With @wbracey96 and team mascot, the mouse that is still stuck in the tailgate. One more loc to go and we will be done with #TNovtSilage for #TNovt2019.
This is definitely going to be my go to response from now on for the "so what do you do?" question. Only maybe add a "so we can feed the world and make it more beautiful" tag to the end.
Looks like we aren't the only ones who thought today would be a great day for soybean planting. UTIA OVT team and the soybean breeding team hard at work at the East Tennessee Research and Education Center
@drgarybates Are you referring to the pennies the library is collecting from the statues to donate to Smokey's pantry? Taking food out of folks mouths @drgarybates
