Dancer-scholar-writer-academic Lakshmi Viswanathan has passed away. Her contribution to Indian dance and dance scholarship is unparalleled. She was a dear friend and her sudden passing has shaken us here at Vaak. We’ll miss her very very much.

Today is MS Subbulakshmi’s birth anniversary. While we cherish her music, we also miss and remember her greatest fan @DesirajuKeshav. He had requested us a couple of weeks ago to help him print a poster of MS that we found online. He was gone before we could give it to him.

We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear the passing of Keshav Desiraju. Keshav (uncle) was a constant presence in Vaak’s journey. His book on MS Subbulakshmi is an unparalleled contribution to Carnatic Music. (1/2)
