@aaronjmate VAR will end up ruining the game
It should only be used in the most egregious of fouls. In the 90's before VAR existed the ref made a decision that had to be accepted and the game's momentum carried on
Hardly any complaints
Now it's not even clear what constitutes a hand ball
@PaulGoldsmith73@TomLondon6 The bottom line is, Isreal comes under attack because of their policies of ethnic cleansing.
I'll leave this debate with a Chomsky quote:
"Everybody's worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there's a really easy way: stop participating in it."
@PaulGoldsmith73@TomLondon6 Fair enough. I'm all for the eradication of Hamas, but not at the expense of civilians, trying to lead normal lives. Many of whom are deliberately targeted. Let's not forget when Hamas were elected, half the current population of Gaza weren't even born yet
@PaulGoldsmith73@TomLondon6 Isreal never fully "left" Gaza. In 2005 they established a militarily enforced perimeter.
They still control airspace, maritime boundaries, water and energy supplies. Do you think Gazans should just accept that as the norm? Put yourself in their shoes
@PaulGoldsmith73@TomLondon6 Hamas does not operate in West Bank so there are no direct attacks on Isreal. But yet illegal settlements continue to propogate in that area.
The Israeli government also wants complete military occupation of Gaza with more planned illegal settlements.

@PaulGoldsmith73@TomLondon6 The surrounding countries wouldn't have a problem with Isreal existing if Isreal stopped continuously trying to expand into their territories.
What response is appropriate when met with violent annexation and ethnic cleansing?
@raelbrav You can't take 3 more years of free healthcare, emergency services, road maintenance etc?
If your house ever goes on fire you'll be the first one to thank the fire service for helping you without charging you a penny
@Aizenberg55@jconricus If there are independent journalists working freely in Gaza they'll probably end up being murdered by the IDF, much like the hundreds of colleagues before them in Palestine and Lebanon
In 2023 alone, 75% of journalists killed worldwide were working in Gaza
@overlyannoyingx Ethno-nationalism is a construct that ultimately leads to ethno-supremacy
It's an intellectually bereft ideology that does more harm than good
