Widlene's family in the Dominican Republic has lost everything after a devastating flood. They urgently need help to rebuild their lives and find a safe place to live. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to support them during this difficult time. Every contribution makes a difference. https://t.co/8PHyjhgXEj
Many of you remember the journey to bring Widlene home. Now, her family is facing something just as devastating.
While in the Dominican Republic, a sudden flash flood hit their village near Puerto Plata. Water rose fast—up to her waist—as they rushed to carry the children to safety.
In minutes, everything changed.
Her grandmother’s home was completely flooded. Her sister’s house was split in half, with a wall collapsing into the river.
They made it out alive. But they lost almost everything.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help them rebuild, with a goal of $7,000. If you can give or share it, it matters: https://t.co/mz5OUJ0d7l
Let’s show up for them ❤️

Some of you were there when this happened. Some of you are hearing it for the first time.
March 27th isn’t just a date for us. It marks the end of a long, difficult chapter and the start of something completely new. Years of pressure, uncertainty, and being pushed from place to place led up to one moment that changed everything.
Looking back, it still feels surreal how it all unfolded and how many people were part of that journey with us in one way or another.

For years, programs like this have taken young people out of their normal environment and placed them somewhere completely different.
Different culture.
Different realities.
Different people.
And in the middle of it all, something shifts.
Because when you meet people whose lives look nothing like yours, you begin to realise how much we actually share.
Xperience Humaniti is about creating those moments.
If you’re a teenager, a young adult, or someone who knows one — this might be something worth exploring.

Real places. Real people. Real change. 🌍
The biggest lesson from my humanitarian trips?
The people I went to serve taught me more than I could ever teach them.
That's the power of real partnership. You don't go to save anyone—you go to connect, learn, and be transformed.
In any other medical situation, you have one patient. In a delivery room, you have two. 👩🍼
Right now in Sudan, doctors are fighting to save both mothers and their babies. They have the skills, but they desperately lack the resources—often performing life-saving surgeries by flashlight. When complications happen, the cost of survival goes up, and the risk of losing both patients becomes a terrifying reality.
At Humaniti, we believe—just like our partners at Every Pregnancy —that every mother deserves a safe delivery, and every child deserves a healthy start to life. No mother should lose her life simply because the clinic didn't have the right tools.
You can change this reality today. Choose your impact:
🤍 $50 provides the basics for a safe, regular childbirth.
🤍 $350 funds a life-saving C-section, covering anesthesia, surgical kits, and crucial post-op care.
Your gift is the best investment you can make because it saves two lives at once.
Step up and give these mothers and babies the fighting chance they deserve.
🔗 Click the link in our bio/below to save them both. (All donations are tax-deductible in the US and Canada).

She wasn’t protesting. She wasn’t resisting. She was just standing there, on a phone call.
In moments like these, it becomes clear how quickly ordinary people can be treated as threats simply because of how they’re perceived. Not because of what they did — but because of what others assumed about them.
Stories like this remind us that policies, rhetoric, and prejudice don’t exist in theory. They shape real lives, in real time, often without warning or accountability.
Awareness matters. Paying attention matters. And refusing to normalize injustice matters.
More than twenty years ago, the first Hero Holiday project was launched in the Dominican Republic. It changed numerous lives, including mine.
Today, I am proud to announce the next chapter: Xperience Humaniti — a youth travel program designed to move teenagers beyond the classroom and into real-world impact.
This summer, students will travel to the Dominican Republic to help build a home for a family, volunteer in an orphanage, and engage in meaningful, hands-on service that stretches perspective and strengthens character. This is not tourism. It is immersion, empathy, and action.
Spots are limited to 40 students.
We’ve built an innovative fundraising system, along with grants and bursaries, to ensure finances are not a barrier for students who are ready to step up.
If you know a young person who is ready to see the world differently and serve it boldly, send them our way.

Be human.
Today, Tumbler Ridge is mourning. Families are grieving lives that will never be replaced.
This is not the day for politics. Not the day to weaponize pain for any side. Those discussions will come. Today is about people.
Nothing said online will undo what happened. But how we respond can still reflect who we are.
Let us lead with compassion. Let us stand together. Let us choose hope.
