This is unfortunately false- protection against severe disease wanes considerably even post-booster. Remember a waning of 96% to 87% protection may seem small, but it's a *3 fold* increase in risk. And protection from long COVID is incomplete (~50%), and will likely wane too.
Especially if you're elderly & in a clinically vulnerable group, your baseline risk is high enough, that this relative increase in risk, is a pretty significant absolute increase in risk too. So it's important to try and *prevent* infection rather than relying on boosters alone.
