For all you stupid fux out there that don’t know - I did a whole 16 song album with @kgrfilms KOOL G RAP called THE GODFATHERS - this is a scene from the studio when we were mixing the track AMERICAN SICKOS in QUAD STUDIOS NYC - honestly no disrespect but I think this was the best G RAP has been since - I have not heard anything he has done since that fux with THE GODFATHERS - debate it in the comments if you want - me and HYDE were discussing this before so that is what sparked me to make this post - some other info for the producers - the main sample - jazz brutal break is from MICHAL URBANIAK - the beginning double LP vinyl - one of my first loved records and full of samples - insane @qtiptheabstract fucked with this album as well - only real vinyl heads understand how insane this album is - and the horns on the track I got from a Kung Fu VHS film - they would use samples from vinyl to make the soundtracks to these VHS Kung Fu flicks - way before people online had access to these records - that was super digging for me back then - and me and G tore this beat up brutally - very different than your normal KGR stuff but it allowed him to experiment - I think it’s fair to say I kept KGR on his toes with this album - his own words - comment below if you heard THE GODFATHERS

J. Dilla touring Europe in 2005, just a few months before he passed away 🙏🕊️

Dilla performed in a wheelchair out of necessity and was getting dialysis between shows, but still rocked it as long as he could.

Eventually, when he was bedridden in the hospital, Dilla would still use his MPC to make music, as the legend goes.

Dilla died on February 10, 2006, at his home in LA, three days after his 32nd birthday and the release of his final album, Donuts.

He redefined chopping up samples, and created his own swing when it came to production, dubbed “Dilla Time”.

He lived and breathed his art. May we all be as passionate about what we love most 🍩
