This line from Atomic Habits isn't ready to leave my head:
"It doesn't make sense to continue wanting something if you're not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don't want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment."
Birds weaving nests with discarded fibre-optic cables from the Ukraine war is a striking reminder that conflict reshapes more than borders.
If UPSC asks an essay on the “Impact of War”, this unusual ecological dimension and the ingenuity of birds could earn “brownie points”. https://t.co/JM3MhoBcmE
China realised that if a it levies high visible tax from citizens, they will ask for participation but China levies the high taxes through Indirect Taxes, without people realising directly, it reduces the scope of questions.
Maybe this is “Communism by Chinese characteristics!”

While reading ‘Breakneck’ that delves in detail about China’s Engineering State characteristics, I came across an interesting fact.
Considering China, a Communist State, I intuitively thought that it would be taxing its citizens, spending on social infra..
As much regressive in economic sense as it may sound, there is a very interesting logic behind this policy.
During the American Revolution, locals raised the slogan - “No Taxation without Representation.”
China cracked the dictatorial code!
WHO should adopt the 'Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) Annex' which would facilitate equity in treatment and in turn, in global healthcare. Underlying idea behind PABS is also in favour of the developed nations cuz no one is safe until everyone is safe!
Finished reading 'Tuberculosis is Everything' by John Green. It talks about the history of TB in a very easy-to-read manner. Green presents a case study of a child, Henry, who is suffering from Multidrug Resistant TB in Sierra Leone and presents various myths surrounding TB.
This article, on similar lines with the message of the book, advocates that the cures developed from the pathogens which are prevalent in the poorer nations should be shared with these nations as matter of right and not as charity.
If someone wants to understand the deep rooted issue between USA & Iran, this book would be very insightful.
Also makes you understand the art of Coup d’etat!
Highly recommend. 9/10.
Finished reading “All The Shah’s Men”. The book is about the fight between Iran & UK about Iran’s oil resources, the subsequent role played by USA to overthrow the government of President Mossadegh and beginning of the rivalry.
Where aircraft go when they need a safe haven – or to die. As the Gulf war draws attention to ‘boneyards’, where does India stand?
A great read.
