When you're working at the restaurant, you *want* people to get their food and eat it. You really *don't* want to see this food waste. To have your staff demoralized by overwhelming them with orders *and* see the orders be wasted is a worst-case scenario.

And who gets blamed for it all at the end of the day? The restaurants.

I worked at a restaurant for a few months this pandemic, and if the apps glitched or deliverers didn't show up, we were the ones who had to pay, got bad reviews, and lost customers.

Because of the pandemic, restaurants have been understaffed & fulfilling large quantities of orders has already been difficult. Imagine this being amplified by thousands of people getting a free meal deal that they have to use today.
