Boomer marketing is now hot again.
Everyone is focused on digital marketing - it's oversaturated.
Oddly enough, the lowest-hanging fruits are old school marketing tactics.
Here are 5 quick "Boomer" local biz marketing tactics that still work:
1) Pick up the phone and start calling -
People are afraid to cold call nowadays. They’d rather send emails and wait.
Cold emails alone aren't powerful.
Cold emails COMBINED with a personal call is very powerful.
I’m testing out a service by @ZacGawn to outsource cold calling to offshore talent. If it hits, we’ll roll this out to all franchisees.
2) Direct mail -
Direct mail is not dead.
A recent study by the USPS found that digital ads got attention quicker, BUT physical ads held attention longer and played a more direct role in purchase decisions.
There are tons of services who will do this for you, like EDDM by the Post Office.
3) Door Hangers -
Door hangers > postcards. Why? Simple - the person needs to physically remove the door hanger, so they will look at your ad.
Pro tip: you can partner with another local service company who targets a similar audience but for a different service and split the cost. Ex: front side of door hanger has a cleaning co ad, backside has a window washing co ad.
4) Radio, TV, and Billboards -
This can be super effective, but ONLY if you are already maxing out your other direct-response channels.
It works a lot better in smaller markets too.
A person typically needs 7-9 touches before making a buying decision.
Radio ads create impressions that live in your customers’ subconscious
5) Chamber of Commerce & BNI -
Want free leads for your biz? Join the local networking groups like BNI & Chamber of Commerce.
Sounds super old-school, but in-person connections are infinitely stronger than online.
You are building “relationship equity” here, and people will start keeping you in mind when they hear of someone who needs your service.
What other Boomer marketing tactics still work really well?
