WNBA returns from ASB/Olympic hiatus August 15. So if BG misses Olympics, Mercury catch a slight break as they'll have three extra weeks for BG to heal compared to other seasons

All-Star Break for Mercury starts July 17. Team USA plays in ASG that weekend.

Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner has sustained a toe fracture on her left foot. Griner will be out and re-evaluated in the coming weeks. Updates will be provided as appropriate.

@PHNX_Mercury @erikaleaday @StayTrueSDot3 Nearly detrimental. 16 of the first 18 games are gonna be against playoff level opponents. Obv some better than others, but the 1st half is heavy. However, wins in those games become that much more significant. Season isn't over but we can't have another huge injury like this.

Liz Dixon is another option the Mercury can use at the 5, listed at 6-foot-5, but was not with the Mercury throughout the preseason and played very limited minutes last year in her 14 games between time with Merc and Sun. Unsure what the Merc's plans are with Dixon
