Valley of Vision

The burden of the valley is vision. Isaiah 22:1

Benign Lord,
I praise thee continually
for permission to approach thy throne of grace,
and to spread my wants and desires before thee.

What a blessedness to be like thee
as much as it is possible for a creature to be like its creator!

I cannot think or act but every motion is sin.
Return again with showers of converting grace to a poor gospel-abusing sinner.

Let me not lay my pipe too short of the fountain,
never touching the eternal spring,
never drawing down water from above.

Take me to the cross to seek glory from its infamy;
Strip me of every please pretence of righteousness by my own doing.

Three in One, One in Three, God of my salvation,
Heavenly Father, blessed Son, eternal Spirit,
I adore thee as one Being, one Essence,
one God in three distinct Persons.

Lord, High and Holy, Meek and Lowly
Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision,
where I live in the depths but see in the heights;
hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold thy glory.

Now I know but a small portion of what I shall know, here in part, there in perfection, here a glimpse, there a glory. #ValleyOfVision

May Your approbation be my only aim, Your Word my one rule. #ValleyOfVision

I bless You for the discoveries, invitations, promises of the gospel for in them is pardon for rebels. #ValleyOfVision

I cannot escape from Your presence or control, nor do I desire to do so. #ValleyOfVision

Make me to abhor that which grieves Your Holy Spirit. #ValleyOfVision

[Valley of Vision @ValleyofVision_]

Teach me that Christ does not desire me, now justified, to live in self-confidence in my own strength. #ValleyOfVision

I thank you for showing me the vast difference between knowing things by reason, and knowing them by the spirit of faith. #ValleyOfVision

[Valley of Vision @ValleyofVision_]

You have taught me that faith is nothing else than receiving Your kindness. #ValleyOfVision

[Valley of Vision @ValleyofVision_]

Your name is excellent, Your glory is high, Your compassions unfailing, Your condescension wonderful, Your mercy tender. #ValleyOfVisioin

[Valley of Vision @ValleyofVision_]

In many things I have offended, in all come short of Your glory; Pardon my iniquity, for it is great. #ValleyOfVision

Work in me more profound and abiding repentance; Give me the fullness of a godly grief. #ValleyOfVision

You [God] are good beyond all thought. #ValleyOfVision

Grant that through the tears of repentance I may see more clearly the brightness and glories of the saving cross. #ValleyOfVision
